Surprised McCarthy is actually done. Seemed like a typical Jerruh move to keep him for at least another 5 years.

The Cowboys have the number 12 pick. They'll need to get in the top three to get Sheduer, you know Prime wants his son on his team. Not sure what other draft capital they have.

McCarthy out:

Jones still doesn't realize the one common denominator in all of the Cowboy coaches not working out.

I have no idea if Sanders would be a good coach, but he would be one who has the personality to tell Jones to stay out of team decisions and not worry about the consequences.

He wants to coach BOTH of his sons. I don't know how that happens, particularly Sheduer. Shilo is projected to be a late pick to UDFA.

I'm not a Prime hater, but it feels like everyone needs to be adults and go where they're drafted or where they're wanted instead of trying to orchestrate another family reunion. At this point you may as well manipulate getting both sons and Travis Hunter on the same team while you're at it. Feels like way too many things would have to fall into place for all of this to work out the way they want it to.

I still think if he leaves CU they're going right back into the abyss.

I also think kids should go where they are drafted, but they can absolutely dictate where they go. Manning, Elway, and others set that precedent.

If Sanders goes to Dallas, you know a stipulation will be for Jerry to do what it takes to get Sheduer.

Didn’t they just give Dak a shit ton of money? They’d be screwed with the draft capital that they would have to give up and the dead cap space they would have to take on to trade up for Sheduer and getting rid of Dak

All of this 100%, especially as Irish #1 stated: "he would be one who has the personality to tell Jones to stay out of team decisions and not worry about the consequences."
I am not a huge Prime fan and def. not a fan of JJ and the Jones family running the Cowboys but it is the Big D reality.
And even with all the Shedur, Dak, etc. shenanigans, I still get to conclusion, he is the only personality type - as long as JJ is in charge - that has the best chance to manage JJ (a job in and of itself!) and be successful in Dallas, so I say Prime to The Cowboys can't happen fast enough.
It's been a waste of a franchise since Barry Switzer (nice guy) freeloaded on the last January '96 Super Bowl win.

Sign me up for the "can't look away drama" of Prime coaching the Cowboys. Would be a sight to see.

The only thing that would be better would be if the Cowboys somehow got Shedeur. I'm just envisioning the reaction by the grown men on that team as Prime reams out the offensive line for not protecting his boy. Ohhhh the fireworks. LOL

Probably, but I don't think there is any way that Prime goes to coach Dallas and his sons don't come with him.

Maybe Taylor Sheridan is a Dallas fan and can convince Jerry to focus on his acting career after his impressive cameo in Land Man

Doesn't seem that we're short of speculation, and the speculation makes it seem like everything falls short of logic at that.

Dallas owns the 12th pick. I don't know why they'd use it on a QB regardless of who it is and who their new head coach is, but Jerry is the GM and he's going to Jerry.

Jerry hasn't been making the picks for about a decade or more now. Will McClay is the man down there even if his title isn't GM

Interesting.

Jerry's title is Owner/President/General Manager so thank you for the clarification.

I'm wondering what Mr. McClay would say about moving mountains to get Sheduer after hiring Deion as HC.

This is why I think it's all for show, Jerry just loves the extra attention that this brings. Jerrah will undoubtedly be involved in the hiring process for HC, but at least for draft picks/pro personnel, it's the McClay show. This past hiring cycle, NFL guys even wondered if he would be a candidate for a GM job elsewhere, but the consensus was "he's pretty much the GM in all but name for his dream job, so why bother?"
