Not sure why everyone gets duped into Bama assistants. He is calling plays for the most talented roster ever constructed. He’s not some savant.

Him and Kiffin have made millions from calling offenses with stacked personnel, going back to the USC days.

Hopefully Sark locks down the state of Texas. We haven’t really benefited from Texas recruiting too much but Alabama and OSU especially have been ransacking the state.

Not only them, but TAMU and OU are way out ahead of UT. Herman was not connected to Texas high school coaches, which is critical. Wonderng what happens to the rest of the staff at UT...DC Ash just came onboard this year.

They lost that after Mac left....plus Herman is a notorious douche for the way he left UH and how he behaved on local radio.

You’re right. I’m sure BK did a very thorough search when all he did was waddle 10 feet down the hallway to Rees’ office to promote him.
Is it lazy if a good hire is already in-house? What would have been better? Let me guess -- Morehead. He wasn't coming here for anything less than autonomous control over the offense. Other than BVG, Kelly has made excellent assistant hires. Don't be a revisionist.

Thought Sark was gonna leave, just thought it would be NFL OC, which seems more likely path for success and more where he fits anyways

If we're talking coordinators I think the following were not good to terrible:

Charley Mohlner - OC
Chuck Martin - OC
Mike Sanford Jr. - OC
BVG - DC

Also, no better way to build a staff than from within. Not to mention, if Rees turns out to be a really good OC, he’s more likely to stay as he’s a ND man.

Love it because it hurts Alabama and won't work out for Texas.

I laughed pretty hard out loud when I read that part. If he can start keeping Texas recruits at home, it may hurt Ohio State more than anyone in the long run. Here's to that.

Sark evidently has his shit together and has hit paydirt in terms of a second chance.

But, you notice a theme here. Michigan and UT announce major changes after ESD. Sark doesn’t take job until after CFP. If only Lea and Vandy would’ve been so kind. Though it didn’t really end up mattering.

Right.

Thank Touchdown Jesus ND didn't throw Venables money at Lea in the end, eh?

Sark was mediocre even when he was off the sauce at UW.

I think I could be a good OC with 3/5 heisman finalists at my disposal.

Wait. Seriously?! All it took was Trevor Lawrence to get him outta retirement.

It’s reported he’s their top target. Urban taking it or even interested is unknown.

Makes more sense than another college gig. Add a generational QB to boot. Why not.

I'd really love to see Urban in the NFL. I'm all for college coaches mixing up the traditional NFL rank and file.

I don’t think he’ll take it. If he coaches again, I think it’ll be in college within the next 5 years. I have no idea where that would be, though. I actually think he’d be willing to come here as a last hurrah, but I doubt that Jack and Jenkins would be smart enough to target him.

Saw he’s also linked to the Chargers. If true, it would be on brand. He always knew how important the qb position is. Would only go to a team with a stud.

Urban Meyer's ceiling is Pete Carroll. His floor is Steve Spurrier.

And he probably doesn't land anywhere in between.

Urban Meyer’s strength is recruiting. He’s a flat out college coach. He’s more Saban, than Carroll in the fact that he wants total control over the organization and he will not get that in the NFL.

I think he passes and waits for another Blue Blood college program to open up. Maybe when we fire Kelly....lol

He will have the best opportunity to get that in Jax tbf.

Unless Urban's health concerns are totally blown out of proportion, I can't see him returning to the grind of college coaching. The NFL is a drastically different situation as far as stress levels and demands on your time.

You can sit on the beach and analyze film from February to July. If a player is a problem, you trade him or cut him. You don't recruit. You don't meet with boosters.

Meyer rumors pop up every year. Will be interesting to see if they have any teeth this go round.

LSU reportedly targeting Carolina Panther’s QB coach and assistant to be OC and pass game coordinator. I’d imagine that decision went something like, “can we do the Joe Brady thing again?”
