It sounded like from what I listened to they’d be hiring a new AD and Manny gets a year to save his job or they will go after Cristobal next cycle. Cristobal no shot he takes it though unless they convince him they’ll actually support the program

Schnellenberger had them in a decent place, then Miami caught lightening in a bottle with Johnson. I don't see that happening again.

Some would contend that they caught lightning in a bottle a second time, with Butch Davis,

The 2001 team, which Butch Davis built, then left as a legacy to Larry Coker, is in the argument for the greatest college football team of all time.

Heard USC wants aranda. Could be a good hire, especially if that OC comes with him.

Fro a USC article

If USC and LSU both want Dave Aranda, LSU is more likely to get him. That statement isn’t meant to diminish USC or deliver a backhanded criticism at the Trojans. It’s simply a reality that SEC schools have more leverage and money and are better positioned to offer a king’s ransom to the coaches they want. I don’t know if Dave Aranda is LSU’s No. 1 target, but I do know that if LSU wants him, LSU has a really good chance of landing him at this point.”

Denny Erickson was 63-9 with one National Championship and an AP share of a second. Then Larry Coker got a title and was a phantom PI call away from back to back titles. He went 60-15. Davis' last year and Coker's first three from 2000-2003 were very good.

Coker let things roll out of control again and he lost 12 of those 15 games in his last three seasons. The off field problems started again. So Randy Shannon was tasked with coming in and cleaning it up, which he did, but he didn't win enough games so they fired him. So the hole got deeper and now they're probably too far gone to ever get out.

They don't have a stadium on campus and their facilities are pretty rotten. I don't know if there is a way back from them now when you have RB from Miami Central running around the SEC playing for UGA. It doesn't have the same appeal and all those kids from Liberty City would rather play in the SEC.

They can have Franklin all day long, but I hope they don't get Aranda. He'd take the wad of dough that program is now and shape it into oak.

Totally forgot about Erickson and Coker. Thanks

Totally forgot about Erickson and Coker. Thanks

I think Coker lived off of Butch Davis' infrastructure (is this the week?) and by the time his fingerprints were off that program, Coker had it falling apart. That program from 2000-2003 was as talented and as good as any I've seen in my lifetime. So to your point, I don't think they're going to get it back anytime soon. Too many variables that made them successful then are not going to be able to fit into 2022 and beyond. The only way I see it happening is if they happen to catch lightning in a bottle again somehow, which is going to be much tougher since they now compete against the SEC for recruits as opposed to just FSU and UF. You also have the second and third tier three star recruits giving UCF more of a look as well.

Miami is a way tougher job than it was 20 years ago. So I think you're right that it isn't coming back for them any day soon.

Aranda seems like the shiny object of the coaching season. Prob could pick his school. Hope he goes cajun.

Yeah totally agree. Hopefully he stays at Baylor or LSU pays him a wad of dough to lay the wood in baton rouge.

I read some stuff this morning that's supposedly from a well-placed LSU insider. Riley is not happening, Aranda is disliked by some power brokers at LSU and not happening, Jimbo is who they want, but has made it clear he's not interested, and Bama OC Bill O'Brien and Mark Stoops are now the two most likely hires, according to the source. I'd never even thought of O'Brien until I read this, but most Bama fans would be OK with seeing him go. His play calling has been adequate at best.

I’ve heard the some powers like Aranda, some don’t rumor. I’ve also heard some powers like Napier, some don’t like the idea of hiring a HC from lowly Lafayette, Louisiana. Woodward gotta deal with politics when he doesn’t reel in candidate #1 lol

From a purely Bama homer standpoint, I hope they hire O'Brien. He's not awful as our OC, but we can do better. He'd do well at LSU, but not great, thus wouldn't ever become a problem. Napier, OTOH, wants to be at LSU, would bring fire & passion, knows the HS coaches, and would be a recruiting machine. He could be a problem for Bama. I have little faith LSU will get it right, though.

If LSU hires BoB to be their next head coach, I'm gonna laugh my ass off. They should be able to do so much better than that.

Mullen might be done.

Cant lose to Missouri and South Carolina. Can’t do it.

Created an environment where who cares once SEC Championship game opportunity was lost, don’t know how you can care that little though.

Mullen 2025 once he goes to Saban’s rehab facility

They should go after Fickell

Mullen had bad culture, didn’t like recruiting, and bad defenses. Fickell checks at minimum 2/3 of those well

Wouldn't mind seeing Fickell replace Kelly someday but the timing isn't gonna work. Unless he stays picky about where he goes I'm sure the major open spots are all trying to strike now.
