Hopefully Aranda would feel overlooked and consider being DC at ND. If he is looking to move up to head coach, based on this happening, Kelly would leave ND before Briles would leave LSU.

I think Aranda would be a good hire for the Irish at DC. However,if BK was ever fired, resigned, etc. I don't think an OC/DC would move up. They would probably be gone as well.

I would love Kiffin at LSU personally.

If LSU gave the keys to Wonder Boy, they would prove what most already think about them being bat **** crazy. They are placing their bets on Herman, Jimbo, or Briles. In what order who really knows.

Why are you crushing my dreams?

You're probably right.

Only one dream a day can come true. And the Irish faithful have gotten that one already today.

Seriously though... Aranda would be a great get for the Irish IMO. Or, maybe Bud Foster isn't feeling his new coach at Va Tech and would like a change of scenery.

If LSU gets Kiffin, it's a win win for me. Alabama's offense potentially takes a step back, and LSU will continually be a 9-4 team. Thus allowing the rest of us to catch up a bit to Bama, and me to laugh at the stupidity of LSU

Why would their offense go back? Has it really been that much better under Lane?

Never looked at it that way. Dang...

In all seriousness, with all the HS football talent in La and the surrounding states, the right coach there can make LSU a premier program in short order.

You don't know that he will fail at LSU. Isn't there some kind of proverb that says "sixth time is the charm"?

I will give Wonder Boy credit where it is due. He elevated the offense over what Jim Mac and Doug N. did. He may be a punk but he can coach offense.

Gotcha. I still refuse to give him any credit. Oddly enough, as a Bucs fan I have nothing but love for his old man.

Deos Kelly leave the NFL for USE or LSU?

Lol they want to hire a winner, not BK. BK is not an improvement over Miles at all. Hopefully Fisher goes to LSU, as was going to happen last year, and hopefully USC sticks with Helton, so that Herman is still available for us to pursue. I doubt he picks us over LSU and USC.

So far, this year is deja vu to 2004: Florida [LSU] fires Zook [Miles] mid-season and so they get a jump start on Urbs [Herman], who picks us over them. Once again, we will be left without a seat when the music stops.

I like Bobby petrino for LSU and Pelini to be hired at ND with BK staying.

If Fisher goes to LSU, why wouldnt Herman go to FSU?

The one factor you have left out of this equation is we now have Swarbrick instead of Kevin White. That alone makes a HUGE difference.

IF Swarbrick were to fire BK (not gonna happen... at least this year), there is a legitimate chance that he would be left shopping in aisle B and have no choice but to go after someone like Dan Mullen or Matt Rhule... neither of whom are really a guaranteed upgrade over BK.

Not gonna happen folks.

So we need to wait to fire our coach until we think no other openings will be available? Or do you think Herman would pick ND over LSU or USC?

We need to be thinking about it NOW. BK needs to know we are thinking about it too. Otherwise, you get this kind of lackadaisical, "going through the motions" attitude that permeates the entire team, some units more than others, but it seeps to every player...because they will know if you are motivated. If the leader is motivated, his troops will be.

I think it is abundantly clear that BK is not motivating the troops anymore, so the need for a new voice in the lockerroom is paramount.

I'd take Cutcliffe over Herman, for now, just to appease those people who think that BK is the best we can do. Well, Cutcliffe has a superior resume and we just saw him outcoach BK at ND with a vastly inferior team at a school that has higher academic standards than ND--or at the very least, equal to ND's--so you know he could coach at ND and if you think about what he has been able to do with the talent he has at Duke, imagine what he could do with 3x the talent at ND.

BK has built a great foundation. Now we need someone to complete the picture.

Herman isn't coming to ND. I've said in a previous thread I'll bet a trillion vBucks he doesn't, there will be too many traditional powers in line that will open the pocket books. Pelini as DC...could be interesting. I wouldn't say Nebraska's defense was necessarily stellar under him, but I think he was a decent coach. I would prefer someone younger that will bring the fire.

Imagine if Saban retires after this season out of the blue, and there is an opening at Texas, LSU, USC, and Alabama.

Can you imagine Tom Herman with Alabama's commitment to football? Jesus Christ Monkey Ballz that's scary.

Honestly, if I were him, I'd go to USC and beat the hell out of the PAC 12 by picking my So Cal guys every year and then whatever national recruits were interested. How often is he going to go head-to-head with another regional power for a recruit? At Bama he'll still have to do that with other SEC teams like Georgia, Auburn, LSU, etc. Take the school that has no other regional competitors and is a household name. No brainer.

Can Alabama get much better? I mean, at some point it gets to be next to impossible to improve due to human error and motivational issues. I imagine it's already pretty hard to keep 'Bama players focused year in and year out when you're constantly winning championships and 12+ games a season. Players naturally start losing fire because "Been there, done that." That's a big reason why it's so hard for teams to win in back to back years.

But at the same point they are turning their roster over so much that the new starters want to win the titles know the other starters are gone.
