I don't understand that pause after the "O" before the "N." It's so unnatural. I think it would sound a lot better if they just held the "O"

C-L-E-M-S-OOOOOOOOO- N.

instead of C-L-E-M-S-O.........N.

Does that make any sense??

They are just happy to be able to spell.

Glad to hear you made it home safe, and presumably still have a home to return to. The pictures on TV are just incredible.

Yes. Seems ok. My neighborhood appears to have faired well.. Thanks!
My house is across the street from a tidal pond. Water made it up to the road but not all the way across. So nothing yet but there are several dams around Columbia that breached which will be sending more water down this way. Apparently this was a 1000 year event. The wastewater plants are asking us to minimize flushing and using water. Lol. Sweet.

Lol. But seriously though do you at least know what I'm referring to or am I crazy?

No you aren't crazy. That is what they do. It's their shtick. C. L. E.M S.OOOOOOOOO. N ! Fight Tigers Fight Tigers Fight Fight Fight

Me.... STFU

Edit. I misunderstood you... yes they hold that O to a crescendo. It gets louder and then they scream the N.

I dated a girl years ago that went to Clemson. She was from Boston, had no love for the Tigers (this was when they sucked though), and absolutely HATED that chant. I used to do it all the time to piss her off.

I will say I was impressed with the fight we had down the stretch. We haven't seen that in least a while. Lead by a RS freshman, 2 game starter.

Reminded me a lot of the Arizona State game last year. Notre Dame teams with Kelly and Weis have always had that fight. Save for the USC game last year, when did we not have a legit chance to win the game down the stretch? Navy in 2010?

My wife grew up around there and absolutely hates it and hates Clemson. I am surprised she came with me to the game. By the end of the game her eyes were rolling so much I thought she might end up cutting someone.

Here's a Rivals article ($) by Brian Fremeau explaining that the Clemson game is the 10th loss under Kelly in which the point value of Irish TOs exceeded the margin of victory. The tweet promoting it indicates that might be some sort of record.

Kelly's record for us right now is 49-21 (70%). Reverse the turn-over woes, and that improves to 59-11 (84%); a win rate that would compare favorably to Parseghian, Leahy and Rockne. Ugh.

Had to take a solid day away from here to regather my thoughts after a(nother) heart-wrenching defeat, but alas, I have come up with the following thoughts...

I wanted the PAT after our first TD, worry about the two later if we get to that point, BUT I do see where BK is coming from in that decision.

Deshone Kizer is a gamer. He sailed a few passes early, and the INT was a brutal mistake, but leading this team all the way back in the middle of a monsoon reiterated that this kid has cajoñes made of steel. I just wish his veteran weapons could have came through on a lot of those dropped passes.

The adjustments the defense made after going down 14-0 were spot on. They really stepped up the rest of the way and played solid to keep them in the game. That said, they have to be ready to go right out of the gate, especially given the magnitude of the game and situation.

Finally, big ups to Clemson for putting together a great defensive gameplan against NDs offense. They forced the game onto DK's shoulders which is exactly what they needed to do.

I needed a 24 hour grace period to re-collect my thoughts, and since the final failed two point attempt, I've gone from 'f()ck football, I'm done with this bullsh!t' to realizing that this could have been a whole hell of a lot worse. As soon as we go down 14-0, I was very concerned they would roll over and quit, but on par with the rest of BK's era so far, they reached deep inside their souls and fought all the way back to making it a winnable game. I cannot tell you guys how proud I am of this team for overcoming a horrible start, and so many terrible mistakes throughout the game, to come within 2 points of overtime. Am I disappointed we couldn't sneak away with a W? Oh hell yes, I'm still a bit sad today. But knowing they fought til the bitter end, when so many ND teams of recent past would have went into a shell and got run out of the stadium, I am as happy as I possibly can be with a now blemished record.

I love this team, I love the staff, I love the direction we're heading, and I love all of you guys. We have a lot of season left, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the ride with you fellas!

We are ND!

Just watched the first half sober.

- Interior OL getting owned on the run. But giving great pass protection. Such a weird pattern under Hiestand.

- Amir doesn't do anything wrong, but Tori Hunter just does things a little better. Wish we'd start Hunter.

- C Rob's drop at the end of the half was killer.

- Kizer looks like a NFL QB. It's just nice to have a QB who can see over the middle. Big body, big arm, quick release. Also stays in the pocket like a man, and usually tucks it at the right time or slightly late. But man, he's gotta stop staring down his WRs.

- CJ is playing well, but I feel like having Folston would have helped in a game like this where there's no where to run. Folston just never goes backwards and is always head down, leaning for at least a yard.

-1st down play calling is so obvious. It's a run every single time.

- Defense did play well when they settled down. Cole Luke and Schmidt looking pretty bad, Luke missing tackles, and Joe just being too slow.

- I hope CJ can stay at KR. I know he fumbled, but he provides a chance to make a play.

I agree about having Folston. Would have been able to put his head down and get an extra yard or two. Also he has very good vision, jump cut ability and can get skinny through tight holes (that's what she said).

I'm rewatching the game as well and on Watsons first big run of the game, it was painful to see Schmidt blitz from the right and is multiple steps too slow into the gap to make a play on Watson

I'd rather play with 11 guys with a chance of being misaligned from time to time than 10 guys. Joe is so slow that teams aren't even bothering blocking him sometimes, they just let him jog free.

Just watched the drop to Scott that should have been 6. What's up with Luke all of a sudden getting burnt quite often?

Also the tackling early was just atrocious. I can't stand watching football teams that don't tackle well.

I re-watched the first ND possession and Mcglinchey go whooped on every single play. Even when he tried to block down field after Kizer scrambled on 3rd down he got stood straight up by one of Clemson's linebackers.

The entire OL got straight dominated early. OL play is tricky as you need all 5 guys to be successful for the play to work. In the 1st QTR. There were few plays where all 5 did. One play it would be Nelson missing LB, McGlinchey getting beat, or Ronnie getting beat etc. Ugly football

The other thing I noticed is that the plays were designed with lots of guys pulling and it allowed Clemson to shoot gaps.

This drove me crazy. Our early run plays took FOREVER to develop.

Still can't get over that first dumb ass two point try.

Not only did it not work, but gave up a time out.

Just take the 5 yard penalty, kick the extra point, keep momentum and live to play it another time.

Sorry for the bumps. Kizer, wow. This kid isn't going anywhere and Malik is going to have an uphill battle to start next year IMO.

Seeing the last play again, I still don't like the call, but Kizer made the right call to keep it. Clemson slid a safety over to the right, so it was block the box and you're good. Elmer didn't do anything on the play, which screwed it up IMO.

Both teams left a lot of points on the board. Clemson dropped a wide open TD, and missed two FGs. They were better in the 1st half, we dominated the 2nd half. Is what it is. I feel a lot better about this team after watching this game sober.

Also don't know where you guys stand on going for the 1st 2 point conversion but I like the call to go for 2, not 1.

On the last play Martin and Elmer got abused, which really caused the play to fail. I mean it was a double team and they still got blown up.

I agree with you on Kizer. Is he inaccurate at times...yes. Does he stare receivers down like most freshman quarterbacks...yes. Does he miss reads on his progression sometimes like most freshman quarterbacks...yes. But God damn he is big, has a strong arm, smart, is mobile enough, tough, a leader and has huge balls!
