After that opener against the Vikings, there was a sense of "here we go again." They've managed to pull off some wins this year that they otherwise lose most other years. There are definitely signs of progress in certain areas.

Enjoy the wins. They don't happen as much as we'd like. Hopefully the process improves as well over time, which equates to more wins.

Next year is make or break for him. I feel like every QB that has a great career either shows it before or during year 3.

Very rare to see guys show it after that window.

You can make the argument this year was make or break for him. The fact he's on pace to break 4000 passing yards (albeit a dumb thing to talk about but I digress), and the postgame comments made by BJ potentially tells us everything we need to know.

Also, for all of the commentary about crying in the stands and painting his fingernails... dude has been clutch and it's shown multiple times this year.

It's dumb, but relatively speaking.

Erik Kramer has the single season record of 3,838 yards in 1995. The franchise has never had a 4,000 passing season. Jay Cutler is the all time passing leader in franchise history.

It's absolutely crazy to think that for as much as the NFL has changed this century, the Bears haven't seen a QB throw for 4,000 yards. It has to be considered progress, even if minimal and trivial.

I didn't like the kid in college, and I thoroughly enjoyed the ass kicking ND gave them in South Bend his final season. I think a lot of what has been said about him, past and present, is fabricated and exaggerated. He turns 24 next week and has made some very public mistakes of an immature nature, mostly in college. As a pro, he's shown me a lot more than I would have expected in terms of grit and intangibles. By all accounts, teammates and coaches like him. I really don't care if fans do or not, including Bear fans.

He just needs to perform and help them win games.

There's definitely been a shift in his demeanor, including body language, from last year to this year. I think it's moreso the coaching than anything. BJ by all accounts is a players coach but he coaches them hard.

Maybe this style of coaching is what CW needed. Either way just win baby.

I think you're correct. BJ spent a good portion of his career coming up with Dan Campbell at both Miami and Detroit. We've seen what he's done with Goff.

It's really a matter of them drafting well and getting the pieces around this young core in place. Easier said than done, yes, but coaching really does make a difference.

This is purely because Trestman benched Cutty for a game to try and save his job back in 2014. He was at 3,812 in only 15 games.

That and just being shit when it comes to having any kind of luck or evaluation prowess at the position going back to Sid Fucking Luckman.

Matt Schaub did it three times. John Kitna did it TWICE. With the Lions.

They've been fun to watch, and good to see 18 take to coaching and really work on improving. If Gordon, and Edwards could stay healthy, we may be able to slow down a rushing offense. The defense originally was supposed to be the highlight but has been the weak link with all the injuries. It's exciting to see the next 2-3 years especially if the offense keeps moving the ball. #2 Rushing Offense, #7 passing offense. Fun.

Key. I know everyone has them in every sport at just about every level, but still.

I feel like the teams that end up doing well, regardless of sport, are the ones who stay healthy. Or healthyish. LOL

One of those changes was going to 17 games in 2021 - that is only a 235 yards/game passing average. Before that it took 250 yards/game - Kramer averaged 240.

Still think the motha hugga lacks NFL accuracy and touch.

With Rodgers potentially out this weekend or if he is playing will be heavily hampered. You have to win this one to make playoff chances realistic. 10 wins might be enough, but 11 for sure gets you in. So if they beat Pittsburgh this weekend and take care of Cleveland, that gets them to 9 wins, which leaves them with Eagles, Packers (2x), Niners, and Lions. That 5 game stretch determines the season.

Either way, I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it regardless if they make the playoffs or not

Last year's team saw 7 of its 12 losses have a margin of 3 pts. The other 5 weren't anywhere near as close.

So far this year's team has seen 5 of its 7 wins have a margin of 2.6 points.

It truly has been a game of small margins, but the team looks much improved, and Ben Johnson is clearly the difference maker between close wins and tough losses.

7-3 with 7 left. I say we go 4-3 or 5-2 over that stretch. Caleb seemed very disappointed in himself, and even to some degree, he seemed annoyed after the winning FG with no time left. Not sure if he elaborated on it or not in the postgame, but it appeared like a "this shouldn't have even been necessary" agitation from him.

Hopefully, that is his mindset, and he is owning where he needs to improve. Ridiculous escapability in the pocket, AND missing open receivers. But he also had several drops both this week and last. Either way, he needs to become more "surgical" over time in his passing game.

I’m starting to drink the kool aid and convincing myself Ben Johnson is a fucking gangster.

We already know Marcus Freeman is a fucking gangster.

The cosmos are setting up what might be the most amazing sports timeline in human history.

If only Jeff Blashill is a gangster...the trifecta is on. Irish, Bears, and Hawks...what a time

I would rather see a Blackhawks / Irish championship combo and fuck the Bears. Life long Bears fan here.😝

Would love to see some defenders come back. I don't think most games will be like yesterday; I expect GB to actually exploit playing against LB6 and LB7

Dude is fucking savage and he’s becoming one of my favorite coaches in the league. I hate the Bears, but I don’t care about the NFL even half as much as I care about CFB. If I could work out some cosmic deal where the Bears become a dynasty but it means ND becomes one I would take that deal in a heartbeat.

I don't think even the biggest meatball homer Bears fan would tell you they'd be 9-3 at this point, coming off a win over the Eagles in Philly.

Yeah, Philly has issues on offense, but that defense has remained among the best in the league, especially up front.

The Bears skulldragged their defense on the ground all game.

Also, the run game went from being one of the worst in the league to one of the most impressive. 281 yards rushing against a front comprised of Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Nakobe Dean, Zack Baun and Nolan Smith. No getting around it, that's super impressive.
