I would be down with moving on from Fields if I felt better about any of the quarterbacks in this year's draft. I don't think anybody is on the level of Young/Stroud.
Let someone else find out and trade up for a ridiculous amount.I would be down with moving on from Fields if I felt better about any of the quarterbacks in this year's draft. I don't think anybody is on the level of Young/Stroud.
I would also prefer Maye but I would be reluctant to spend a number 1 pick on him. If the Bears can get a haul similar to last year's for that spot and he falls to Chicago at 9th, it's a different story. But I'm assuming that's a pipe dream.Let someone else find out and trade up for a ridiculous amount.
I think Maye missed Longo this past season. His stats dipped but I do think the tape the scouts see might actually be better. His last three games didn't do a ton to inspire me as a Bears fan, but I honestly think he might be the better choice if you're putting him head to head with Williams.
Next year's draft is setting up to be much worse. Unless you're convinced that Shedeur Sanders is the guy. Six QBs might go in the first round this year. Maybe two next year.I would be down with moving on from Fields if I felt better about any of the quarterbacks in this year's draft. I don't think anybody is on the level of Young/Stroud.

I was thinking the Bears had to make their decision on Fields prior to the draft but google tells me I was wrong and they can wait until May if they really wanted to see how the draft goes. Which sounds like a great way to piss off Justin Fields but may be the proper route.
Agreed.
Every play called for Justin Fields in the NFL has been called by Luke Getsy. One year they were tanking for all intents and purposes, then this year you could see improvement in the team but you could also easily diagnose that Getsy isn't an NFL OC of near championship caliber. He may very well be a pretty good QB Coach somewhere but that's about all. A change at OC with Fields going into his third season and turning 25 would not make me cringe. Rolling Getsy back out as OC is going to be a problem.
I really think someone is going to make Poles an offer for the first pick that he won't be able to turn down.
I'd bet it on Fields before I ever would that sack of dogshit Williams
The chances that Poles bets his job on the QB play of Fields hovers around 0%, lol. Even Fields knows that which is why he already said his goodbyes. I badly wanted Fields to succeed too. He's gone, better get used to Caleb Williams as QB for the foreseeable future.
So where would you draft Kedon Slovis? My position would be, similar to most draft classes. There is a QB in this draft not named Williams or Maye who will be really fricking good. Make the trade and find that guy.
I’m intrigued by both Nix and Penix depending on where they’d have to be drafted at.So where would you draft Kedon Slovis?
I do agree.
Nix is probably a first rounder.I’m intrigued by both Nix and Penix depending on where they’d have to be drafted at.
The hype is all around Caleb Williams.Even if Fields is gone, I wouldn't make it Williams. Trade back and take someone else.
Hope he enjoys having pressure in his face on 70% of his drop backs and not having a receiver turned around to throw to, because until they fix that sh*t, that's what he's going into. The hype is all around Caleb Williams.
The Chicago Bear Muskbots are all tweeting highlights of him, mostly from last year against UCLA and ND, believing this is the way. Justin Fields had college highlights too.
He threw 5 picks all season and 4 were against ND and UCLA combined. Probably the two best defenses he faced all year.
Poles has done a good job of positioning himself with draft capital.Someone is going to overpay for #1, and if the reports are true that someone inside the top 5 would be willing to give up more than the Panthers trade then you absolutely do it
Thank you OMM!Look at Detroit. OLINE. ( how about pick #1 for a starting OLineman AND a high enough pick to get another one? )
BIG BOYS = WINS.
... plus another TE to go with Kmet (gotta be loyal to my ND guy), and one dependable wide.
I said the same thing honestly I think out of Bo Nix, Jaden Daniels, and Penix 1 or maybe 2 of those 3 will be better than Maye and WilliamsMy position would be, similar to most draft classes. There is a QB in this draft not named Williams or Maye who will be really fricking good. Make the trade and find that guy.
I am a Bears fan and this is 100% what I would do.I'm not a Bears fan but if it were up to me, my desired options would be...
1. Trade down and focus on every position not named QB.
2. Trade down and take a different QB.
3. Stay put and draft QB at #1.
It's not about highlights, it's about breaking down film, throwing mechanics, field vision, etc. If you knew how to breakdown film, you'd know that the concern about Penix has much more to do with mechanics and handedness than injury history. If you cared more about field vision and less about name-calling you'd understand that Fields doesn't possess half the vision of a Williams or Maye. The hype is all around Caleb Williams.

We are real....neither Maye or Williams will be a franchise QB....book it. To get rid of Fields and draft a qb would be about as damn dumb as giving up the picks to the niners to move up 1 spot to take Biscuit (another UNC turd) and giving up picks to take Fields when they moved up to get him. There are way too many holes on the roster to not trade down and bank picks and keep building a foundation. Fields is by no means Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Joe Montana....but he is a more than serviable QB if the line gave him more than 1.5 seconds to throw the ball....and if Moore had some help on the outsideWhen Fields isn't signed to an extension, who are we going to draft in 2025? Jaxson Dart? Weigman from A&M? Everybody's favorite, Sanders?
Poles isn't going to tie his career to Fields. Get real![]()
Kind of rich for the guy that's speaking with such certainty on a draft class that won't take place until April of 2025.It's not about highlights, it's about breaking down film, throwing mechanics, field vision, etc. If you knew how to breakdown film, you'd know that the concern about Penix has much more to do with mechanics and handedness than injury history. Who goes through their progressions better, Fields or Williams, or Maye? Do you know? You don't have the first clue.![]()
I think it's penix personallyMy position would be, similar to most draft classes. There is a QB in this draft not named Williams or Maye who will be really fricking good. Make the trade and find that guy.
