I think you’re gonna see a way deeper DL this year where some of the younger guys who didn’t play much like Reiff could have a 3-4 sack year
I always want a WR corp that is like a basketball team with versatility. This year’s dl will be similar in the sense that we have so many dudes who can play roles. Run stuffers, 2 gappers, 1 gap shooters, speed rushers, edge setting des. Can see us going with odd and even fronts. What you need in 2026 and the 2027 national title

We will have 3rd string DT’s that could start on a lot of teams

I’ve been fairly critical of Washington so no need to get into all of that again. Great recruiter, very average coach. Because of that, I do believe we’ll see a significant uptick in development under Partridge. Young guys will get better faster.

IIRC, that's what Bucks' fans were saying about him when he left there to come to ND. They weren't exactly upset when he left, much like we ND fans seem to be now. (I *think I'm not misremembering, but...)
Pretty much how they felt at the time. IMO, He did not do enough at ND, to change that perception.

Good catch forgot KVA and also forgot about Burgess who I think is going to surprise some people.

Isn’t KVA not expected until October? He’ll need time to get back up to what we’re used to seeing. I’ve said that if he leaves after this season, it means he had one helluva short season

For reference Miami led the country in sacks last year with 50 (In 16 games). Followed by Indiana with 46 in 16 games, Oklahoma 45, and Texas A&M with 43. ND had 34 last year. If they get over 40 this year, I think we should have a very, very good defense.

I'm predicting over 40 just for the simple fact that we have an easier schedule to start off with and only play one option team this year. We were at 40 two years ago. Also I expect the DL to be better with Partridge.

The strength of our secondary should allow Coach Ash to be more aggressive, which will hopefully lead to more sacks as well.

I'm hoping our guys do take the next step with Partridge here. Washington had some okay success, but I want to see us have a Justin Tuck type guy again that just dominates, and then a strong group of guys around him that can get the job done as a unit.

Coach P has delivered everywhere he's been to this point. Safe money that he'll improve the DL in 2026 and beyond. Nobody has handed him four and five star high school all americans in the past. He's gotten a lot of good players to overperform their expectations and projections.

These dudes had better be ready to work.
