I feel like ND focused on coaches and staff (Partridge, Sanders, Bryant) at the expense of the portal. I love the guys they brought in, and I’m amazed they were able to announce them so quickly. But damn…can’t we do both??? 🤣
They could have worked on both at the same time without any impact, but I think you're comparing apples to oranges when it comes to signing a coach as opposed to a player in the portal.

Bullough's exit and Partridge's arrival were likely in motion before the season even ended. More often than not the wheels are moving depending on the situation and how much of a head start programs have in getting hiring moving.

I suppose the same can be said for The Portal as well, but coaching movement isn't all that different of a process in this new era we're in.

Sampson pointed out on both his pods that a lot of the DL is separately mentioning how much new techniques they are learning under Partridge. Almost to a point where you kinda say huh… about Washington.
Indeed. The players were careful to say how much they loved Wash & benefitted from him but that Partridge was taking them to the next level in their development. I liked Wash and appreciated how he recruited & developed but it’s looking like Partridge is exactly what we hoped based on all his previous stops.

Washington developed a couple good ones. Overall, I thought he was just was an okay DL coach. He could never develop a consistent pass rush, and I don’t think it was a coincidence a linebacker was one of our best pass rusher last year.

I appreciate what Washington did. I think Partridge will be an upgrade and we'll see it on the field & in recruiting.

Gives me hope maybe we can get something out of Reiff or some of the younger guys this year.

I think you’re gonna see a way deeper DL this year where some of the younger guys who didn’t play much like Reiff could have a 3-4 sack year
