This whole situation seems… off. I can’t put my finger on it, but I feel like there’s something missing here. You don’t fire someone to just appease a couple squeaky wheels… or at least you shouldn’t, but it does make the timing make more sense rather than waiting until after the bowl. You don’t announce “everyone will be back” and then can someone the next day, you’d say something more diplomatic like “every year we have conversations with all of the coaches and…” The final alternative would be that Freeman got confirmation from another WR coach that they want in and he doesn’t want to lose that guy so he had to make a move with Stuckey immediately.
I imagine we’ll have a clearer picture in a few days of what exactly went down.
