Driskell - Universally disliked

Singer - Largely considered weird, but harmless

I won’t name him, but there is someone who’s no longer trusted, and is being actively locked out of information.

The Tims are well liked, as is Sampson, Frank, and Horka.

I love his work, but it's got to be Loy as persona non grata.

He's had too many missteps that's led to the coaching staff the way it is now.

Singleton Crystal Ball during the trip. Avery Johnson as a serious flip. Dante Moore's unending fiasco.

Must have started a few years ago because Loy jumped ship to go national and has done a fine job there. It kind of makes sense between then and now if anyone happens to remember Mike Frank's ISD podcast rant threatening to air the dirty laundry of ND players and coaches past that they've sat on. At the time, I thought it was related to the ND school media producing more in house content but it could make sense if they were told that they were being put on a short leash due to all the ill timed leaks.

If this is the case we should be pissed, so we are gonna settle for someone who isn't good because we are being cheap?
Who knows. It would be silly if we offered less than his current salary. I’ll assume we offered him a large raise and Tech came back and offered more to keep him.

I guarantee you we are not being cheap here. ND has shown the past few years that they will be willing to pay top dollar for gold coordinators and assistants, so likely willing to do the same for a proven GM. We pretty much had this one in the bag, after it was said he loves being at Texas tech, was hesitant about uprooting his family and prefers staying in Texas. That shows me he was offered substantially more than what he was being paid. If anything TT ponied up because this is a guy they really want to keep.

I see critical thinking isn't one of your strong suits. You ever think that maybe he got an attractive offer from ND, but TT countered? No disruption to the family (moving, schools, etc.).

Yes this would make zero sense. First of all he is from Texas so he pays less in taxes, your gonna spend all this money to interview the guy then offer him less money?

Yeah I'm not dumb then why didn't ND reup their offer.
Maybe they did. A lot of "hear is what I heard" is going on.
Also, Tech might have presented him an offer way above what the market is. You don't want to get into those bidding wars.

Yeah it's this. If ND wants him they should definitely consider counter offering, that's common sense. Blanchard isn't going to go back to ND and say "sorry, I want to be at ND but TT offered me more and I'm accepting it without giving you a final say". But it's also what Mike's "heard" and Mike isn't a fluffer but who knows how solid the info he's getting is. It's just what one person on the beat has heard.

Interesting Goolsby tweeted yesterday their show and said excited for our new GM Blanchard to get here.

If ND didn't think Blanchard was coming, we'd almost certainly hear new names leaked.

Reading the tea leaves, it sounds like ND formally made an offer and is aware Texas Tech formally made an offer with a higher salary. ND is comfortable with their final offer and all that entails (salary, control etc)

Blanchard hasn’t responded positive or negative. An optimist would point towards visiting South Bend, those conversations and the package as a whole and expect he still chooses ND. The counter would be well TTU offered more and he’s there, he will choose that.

Due to National Signing Day, if he’s staying at TTU, wouldn’t be shocked to hear so today. If he’s coming to ND, would expect tommorow or Friday.

Matt Freeman is still dishing out the goods when it comes to recruiting reporting, and Jamie U is just an analyst. If he had any contact with the staff, it would be minimal - at best. Goolsby is pretty much the same, and even less likely to have contacts within the program. Alumni, now that's another story. Ex-players talk amongst themselves and may hear things through the grapevine.

It's got to be Loy.
I would assume horka since he leaked the Leonard injury in spring or summer.
