As I've posted before. BVG came into Georgia Southern and ruined that program for a while also. He decided to go spread offense instead of the triple option they recruited for, for years. I believe we will be 120% better come Stanford game.

Ironically enough, they run a spread option hybrid now they are fbs

If things improve, the question will be: why wasn't this move made in January? Just like it how was immediately clear to everyone in Austin that DK was the guy, but Kelly apparently had not seen this during camp, it was clear to everyone that BVG had to go after last season. But no change was made, because BK is an arrogant prick who takes no responsibility for his failures.

If things don't improve, Kelly has his marching orders. Maybe our Brownies will hire him.

Really? If things improve, I'll be ecstatic. I could give two shits as to why it didn't happen yesterday, instead of today. I just want them to improve, and WIN!

I believe Kelly was the major decision maker on this. You could tell by his sideline demeanor toward BVG and how when the defense would screw up. BVG would avoid all eye contact and interaction with Kelly.

Did people really think in the press conference that Kelly would say "Yeah I think after today I'll probably let go of BVG tomorrow. I'll just have to review the tape first." Come on now, that would absolutely no sense.

We ain't winning anything this year, outside of the Scrubbing Bubbles bowl. And why? Because of BK's appalling lack of judgment in retaining BVG.

After Kelly's unwavering support it seems highly likely Swarbrick sat him down...

I don't think so. This guy that took over was just hired, as an analyst, in June. I think Kelly hired the guy figuring that he might well have to get rid of BVG in season. I'm not saying the new guy is going to be the full time DC, but I think Kelly maybe had him in place as an interim, if he needed him. If not, then presumably the guy is a good analyst and you still get some value from him.

I agree, the wording here did kind of make me laugh considering the defense under BVG has already been burned to the ground...lol.

Hate anyone losing a job, but this was clearly needed for the team. Buys Kelly at least next season to right the ship. But if he fails, I could easily see next season being his last.

Easy to sit here and say that.

Anyways, hope this lights a fire under the defense. Seniors, time to showcase your skills for the league and set a good example. Underclassmen, new sheriff in town. Show him what's up.

You know damn well that kid should've never been up on that scissor-lift. There is simply no excuse for it. Unforgivable. Dont care what you think.

WTF does that have to do with Lizzy Seeberg, who I bolded for a reason?

Sitting here and saying that is exactly what sports internet forums are for. It wasn't just me saying it either- it was everyone who watched the defense last season and in 2014. It was historically lousy and it was clearly time for a change. That a change was not made reflects poorly on the head coach.

Kelly knows better than to blast a guy he hired and considers a friend right before he cans him. I think he sees the writing on the wall. It's year 7 and you just lost to Duke...

You're rolling backwards downhill and picking up pace. There's no Tommy Rees excuse to bail you out. You have not 1 but 2 capable QBs and you handled them like shit right out of the gate.

The roster is stacked with athletes yet they are consistently missing assignments and failing at the basics of football. A D line consisting of guys like Rochelle, Jones, Cage, Tillery, Hayes etc should be dominating an Oline like Duke.

I like Kelly, I think he's a ND guy but when I see what a coach like Harbaugh is able to do at Michigan and in such a short amount of time, it leaves me wondering if we have the right guy.

So you think he had a Epiphany and realized he was wrong? No most likely Swarbrick sat him down and told something needs to change.

I'm taking Kelly at his word(s) about the coaches being fine. And why shouldn't I? He has said the same thing about every week. But this last PC probably was enough for Swarbrick.

Nonsense. No epiphany---he knew the defense sucked. He was screaming at Van Gorder on the sidelines throughout the season. Is it really a surprise to you that a head coach isn't going to throw his assistants under the bus at a press conference? Kelly never was going to do that. And if you fail to see why a HC isn't going to do that, then I don't know what to tell you. If you want to believe that Swarbrick sat Kelly down and told him to can BVG, feel free to do so. I'm not that naive.

Exactly. It's ludicrous.

I knew the Defense was horrible 24 games ago. You didn't Wow.

You are naive to not see that he (BK) is so egotistical that it took someone to pull him aside.

At least we know that BK reads our forums

No I take evidence for real. You don't? Wow.

Ok, so you do take what a coach says at a press conference at face value. Five cents worth of free advice: if a guy approaches you to sell you ocean front property in Nevada, just say "No thanks."

Not really trying to argue. But don't need to be condescending with me because I believe different. Carry on with you thoughts.

Dude, I take evidence for truth... He kept him from last year. That is evidence enough that he thought that. You got it? Put me on ignore man.
