I'd say 0 chance on Mattison. If I recall, part of the reason he went back to Michigan instead of staying with the Ravens was to be closer to his daughter and her family in Michigan. Obviously South Bend is a stone's throw away, but at 66 I imagine Michigan is his last stop coaching wise. I certainly wouldn't mind having him though.

Fickel on the other hand...no thanks. I'd take Tressel as a DC though.

He showed what a fraud he was in his one year under the helm before Urban took over. You had two decades of .900+ ball with one 7-5 year sandwiched in the middle with shit defense. Urban has kept him on in name only for a reason. He's destined for a lower half of the Big10 HC job like Maryland where he'll flame out after 3 seasons.

He's a coordinator in title only. He isn't calling the defense. He's there to recruit.

What disappoints me the most about our defense is there seems to be zero talent development across the board. Our defensive players improve very little from year one to four and that's a finger pointed at the whole staff from van gorder down to longo. They look slow, unathletic, unsure, unphysical, and un-instinctive. I know there are growing pains when you play a lot of young guys but the root of the problems is the staff. Your given the groceries you shopped for now it's time to start cooking something that doesn't taste like shit

Yes, and he knows his role is not as a HC, so he would not be bucking for a HC spot at ND, either.

However, I am not convinced just getting rid of BVG will ever happen under BK.

I had as much to do with those shutouts as Fickel. Him being defensive coordinator is nothing more than a shiny name tag urban gave him so he would have to put him out on the street after his interim year as HC.

If he isn't then it's not a great idea for your daughter to post F*** ND and ND Football and that Kelly should be fired.

It might be a reaction to everyone that is attacking her Father but still not smart to attack your father's employer when he is certainly on the hot seat.

I certainly agree that he should be fired at some point, the defense is terrible but I'm worried about whether they'll lose recruits because of it. At this point, who will be promoted to replace him mid-season? Will they move Elliot back to a coaching position to replace BVG in the short-term? I'm sure they will find someone after the season but at this point I don't have much confidence in anyone on the defensive staff taking over that role. I would probably clean house on the defensive staff.

Also, it is time for Booker to go. The TE position went from consistently being a strength to a weakness now even though ND is continually pulling in top talent at the position.

I honestly don't know. She was fired up with everyone criticizing her father last night. She tweeted about offensive turnovers and special teams giving up plays, and then this morning we got that. I guess we can wait for the Sunday teleconference to see if anything happened.
