Getting fresh legs for weeks 9-16 and into the playoffs will be very beneficial for them. This could really play in their favor given what they already have in the backfield.

Still need to upgrade a couple of the following before we think contender:

Everyone is raving about Dorsey this offseason and I'm just sitting here in near panic mode watching LB, OL and DB free agent options sign elsewhere......

Looking at the FAs left on the defensive side of the ball... only Brown (would move positions with us) and Berry (hell, is he even going to play again?) are out there that make much sense.. maybe Claiborne??

I said I'm not nearly as big on Dorsey's moves thus far if he doesn't address the back end of the defense or improve the OT position. Really hope he has another trade lined up or something... can't solve all of those issues with a second round pick. They are so close to being a legit contender, just need to plug a couple more holes.

Gotta wonder if Joe Thomas isn't kicking himself right now. Poor guy had to suffer through one of the worst performance droughts in Cleveland history, and when he leaves they finally decide to take football seriously.

Nah he said his body couldn't physically do it anymore even if he wanted to. I guess his knees are in terrible shape.

I’m sure he laughs at himself like, ‘you have to be fucking kidding me!’ But yeah his body had enough and he knew it,... also, if you were to give him a truth serum I think he HATED the first two picks last year when they were made and was totally ‘here they go again ducking up the draft..” Wasn’t until mid way through the season (like with many) where he was like, “no way!”

Just traded Ogbah to KC for SS Eric Murray... don't know that much about Murray but looking strictly at the PFF grades I feel good enough. Anyone else know more about him?

Chiefs fans feel they won on the deal. Murray is a serviceable backup. He may not have started this year even with Berry leaving. Jordan Lucas and Mathieu are currently considered starters at safety with Armani Watts, drafted last year and injured for the year, as one backup. Sorenson may be a post-June 1 cut and would save $3 million in cap space. Chiefs may draft a S, so clearing out a couple would help. If Berry is healthy, he would be a good acquisition.

Chiefs trade Eric Murray to Browns for Emmanuel Ogbah (Arrowhead Pride)
(See comments)

One comment from a Chiefs fan to a Browns fan:
Murray is actually a little bit worse than the 105.1 passer rating against would suggest.

He was in the "enviable" position of being on a pretty terrible pass defense last season, where he wasn’t necessarily isolated and targeted any more often than anybody else. On a defense where he’d be a weaker link by a large degree, and thus would draw a lot of targets, he’d have likely graded even worse….he’s the kinda guy where volume hurts him more than helps him.

And he’s no prize as a tackler. Coming from Chiefs fans, think about what that means.

I actually have no idea what the Browns were thinking here, outside of the familiarity angle. I can see how you might not have pictured Ogbah as a key piece moving forward, so get something for him now.

But then get something for him….Murray ain’t that. It’s not like he was a guy who even really flashed while he was here….if there were some flashes that spoke to a higher ceiling, I’d maybe even understand it as an overly optimistic roll of the dice. But Murray’s "flashes" were the times we thought "ok, that wasn’t absolutely the most terrible thing we’ve ever seen".

Sorry, brother….when the 31st-ranked defense looks at this trade and says "wow…glad he’s gone", you got taken.
UPDATE: Browns trade Emmanuel Ogbah to the Chiefs for safety Eric Murray (Dawgs by Nature)

From a Chiefs fan commenting in the article above:
Murray has largely been a disappointment for us in KC
He’s been a spot starter since he was drafted. He hasn’t been able to take the starting safety job even though it was handed to him on silver platter. He has shown flashes here and there but has been a replacement player most of the time. He is very handsy in coverage and draws a lot of fouls. He isn’t a factor against the run and shies away from contact. I’m not convinced he is better than Kindred of whom you just cut. This sounds more like a trash for trash trade in hopes a change of scenery will unlock their potential

I'm still okay with it... especially considering we needed a safety and Ogbah wasn't going to start. Plus, when he did and MG got all the attention Ogbah didn't step up as expected.

He disappointed me this past season,... but maybe it’ll be a win win for both and his physical style works in KC

Colts claimed Kindred. What should we expect? Heard he's a thumper but can whiff big time.

All in all a below average safety who still has room to grow. He was a decent backup.

Sounds like Browns will be in prime-time 3 of the first 5 weeks...

Week 2 MNF at Jets
Week 3 SNF vs Rams
Week 5 MNF at 49ers

prob a good bet that week 8 vs NE will be a prime time game too

Dorsey at his presser last night:

Yup...That was classic. My best friend is a Gints fan and he absolutely lost it with their first pick.

While this is speculation, Kareem Hunt will serve an eight game suspension this year after which he is a free agent. Spotrac has estimated his contract value at $44 million over 4 yrs or $11 mill a year. Would a team like the Colts or Texans with a lot of cap space be interested and willing to pay the price next year? Cleveland still gets Hunt on his rookie contract for eight games this year. While the Colts and Texans are the top two teams with cap space this year, the Texans have the most cap space next year. As for the Colts, Spencer Ware and Jonathan Williams are free agents next year.

If the KC police clear Tyreek Hill and neither the Chiefs nor the NFL disciplines him, the Chiefs may look for a trade partner who would want him for the full season on the last year of his rookie contract. Spotrack estimates his market value at 5 yrs, $95,584,865 with an Avg. Salary: $19,116,973 . Report: Tyreek Hill’s lawyer denies child abuse claims in letter to NFL This one will have to play out. But if the penalty is similar to Hunt's and KC releases him without finding a trade partner.... but maybe they do, especially if the NFL does not act.
