Totally disagree with Rudolph. He instigated the entire fight, it began with him. Not only that, people are missing the fact that after Garrett pulls Rudolph's helmet off Garrett is being pulled away by a Steeler's OL and then Rudolph CHARGES Garrett which results in Garrett swinging the helmet at him as he's being drug away. If Rudolph walks away he doesn't get hit in the head and nobody is talking about this issue today. Two strikes on Rudolph here, and while neither of them are as egregious as the helmet swing, he's full of shit for pulling the victim card in all this. He should at least get a game suspension.

Haynesworth got 6 games for stomping twice on Gurode's head using cleats, Gurode was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. That resulted in 30 stitches for Gurode, he was bleeding profusely coming off the field. That seems pretty much in line or worse than this incident, but I'd still advocate for Garrett to miss the rest of the season and a few games in 2020.

If her skirt wasnt so short she wouldnt have been raped.

Dude should not play football ever again.

If a dude pulls you up from the ground by your helmet, and rips it off of you, it's perfectly reasonable to want to get after him. That sort of thing would happen regularly if people ripped off others helmets. What isnt acceptable and the NFL certainly doesn't want to be considered remotely tolerated will be to use a weapon against another players helmetless head.

There is only one dude in this whose conduct is literally indefensible and hes a big man who plays for Cleveland.

If you cant wrap your head around how genuinely horrific what he did was then you probably are either very dumb or have orange colored classes on.

Congrats to cleveland on drafting yet another bum at the top of the first round. Really incredible to see.

Groin kicks and nut punches are defensible now, good to know. Glad ‘team root for rapists’ are here to teach us nfl morality.

Glad to know your okay with a guy swinging a helmet at a helmetless player. I'm sure you'd be fine if someone did that to say...a son of yours?

So you're saying Garrett's swing of an empty helmet (Which doesn't hurt as bad as people are letting on, and Rudolph certainly didn't react that way) is worse than the 5 game suspension that Haynesworth got for stomping on a helmetless players head with his cleats twice? The later resulted in 30 stitches and blurred vision for a month.

giphy.gif

FWIW, I thought Haynesworth should have gotten a much longer suspension, and I think Garrett should be out till 2020 at a minimum, but whatever.

An attack that was so vicious Rudolph didn't even seem phased or show any signs of pain and whose immediate concern was looking for a call.

It’s a thread literally titled ‘Browns Fans’ how about you go eat a dick?

Yes, it's entitled "Browns Fans" but then says in the OP ... "Chime in people".

Apparently people missed this was intended as a segregation thread. Only the true believers may comment here. The post above sounds like a GO41 post. Open discussion as long as you agree with his opinions, others are ignorant, bigots, or both by association.

I realize this is a passionate discussion but none of us were on the field to argue heat of the moment. Personally it seems appropriate to "Kill them all and let God (Goddell) sort it out."

Best wishes and keep your helmet on Aaron. It's dangerous out there!

I’m way behind on this thread, but had to throw in an LOL at the... getting hit in the head with a helmet “doesn’t hurt as bad as people are letting on” comment. Death is probably an exaggeration, but this absolutely could have resulted in serious head trauma or concussion that lasted several weeks. Obviously Rudolph seemingly went unscathed, but we’re not talking about some plastic replica helmet sold in the gift shop for the purpose of collecting autographs. A man of Garrett’s size and strength could have sent a majority of folks directly to the emergency room with the right connection.

Sure, because I didn’t find the whole thing ”horrific” I must condone it. Good God, nobody even got hurt. Didn’t realize you were that easily traumatized.

Maybe with the top of the helmet, but it's unlikely to happen with the side of a helmet where it has the most give and that's what Rudolph was hit with. I've been hit with a helmet, it's not as bad as they're making it sound. Yeah, it hurts, it leaves a bruise, but I didn't even get a goose egg. The end of a dumpster, on the other hand, that left a good bump. I'm not saying Garrett shouldn't sit out till 2020 or longer, but I agree that one hit with the side of the helmet is unlikely to bring death.

Yeah, its hard to like the NFL unless you have a team. In Texas, everyone is supposed to like the Cowboys, but I hate 'em, except Julius. I was kind of hoping Quinn would fall one more spot to KC.

Julius Jones? He played for the cowboys I believe lol.

Edit: I see now that this post was from 2007 and that Julius did play for them lol. I thought he meant Jaylon and I was making a joke...backfired hahaha

Im not siding with Garrett whatsoever, there is no place in the game for what he did, but Rudolph did kind of start it after he got taken down. He is going after MGs helmet on the ground and is what instigated the whole affair. I read that there will be a police investigation on MG for his actions but I doubt anything will come of it. What kills me is in his interview after the game, he seems like a nice quiet guy who wouldnt intentionally hurt anybody. Cheap cheap cheap shot man, youre better than that. If that happens to Aaorn Rodgers or Tom Brady he might as well have retired.

MG's contract as the first pick in 2017 totalled $30.4 mill with $20.25 mill in a signing bonus. The signing bonus was spread out equally over four years ($5 mill per). The $10+ million salary was backended with a salary this year of $3.2 mill in 2019 and $4.6 mill in 2020. As such, MG loses $1.14 million for this year. due to suspension. He would be a free agent in 2021.

Should someone like Indy with cap room throw a couple of first rounders (2020 & 2021) or like the Raiders with two this year plus other picks in a trade before the draft, Cleveland would have a cap hit of $9 mill.

Would you do it?

Alright, one more time,... to have any chance at the post season you have to think it's a must win. Either way I'll just drop this:

How do you guys truly think of Baker Mayfield? Last year, I was thinking to myself "Cleveland might have actually found a QB". Do you think his regression this season is on himself, on Kitchens, or a mix of the two?

Also, Baker has no problem not holding back when it comes to interviews. Last year he criticized Duke Johnson for wanting to be traded and this year he criticizes the medical staff for the way they handled OBJ. Do you see that as an issue or is that him trying to be a leader?

He needs to treat the media like mushrooms... his 'struggles' this year,... man SO MANY of his picks are either forcing the ball when they have to force the ball (late in games) or hitting a receiver right in the hands and having them bat the ball in the air right to a defender. I'm not too worried about him not being the guy. The problem is Kitchens, plain and simple, the first issue with the media also goes back to Kitchens honestly...

I was worried there might be a Sophomore slump, many QBs go through it. I even mentioned it in this thread I believe. By the sounds of it, the fault isn't entirely on him though. It sounds like OBJ has played hurt most of the season, and his numbers would certainly point to that. Kitchens has struggled in his new role as HC. I'm sure all the press and fame certainly was distracting as well. Here's hoping 2020 is a better season, but I still think they finish strong. They should get at least two more wins in matchups with the Cardinals and Cinci, and maybe they surprise people when they face the Ravens...Cleveland was the last game they lost (Although that game will be a long shot).

I still think Baker is the QB that Cleveland needs. You need a cheerleader out there to galvanize the team and fans. I think there's better QBs out there, but if he has healthy playmakers around him and he continues to stretch the field it'll continue to help Chubb and the run game keep defenses honest.

What is Cleveland paying OBJ? At this point, he's robbing the Browns.

To me it’s a mix. Kitchens is in way over his head. Playcalling has been awful after the scripted plays run out. Against the 32nd rated run defense they ran the ball 6 times in the first half yesterday. Kitchens like Baker is guilty of trying to force the ball to OBJ and Landry. Baker’s accuracy has been an issue all year. Throwing high has been an issue due to constantly throwing off his back foot.
