Brian Kelly's Bad In-Game Coaching

The problem with most of you guys is you're too emotionally invested in your team you fail to see things from an objective point of view. I'm not saying Kelly is a bad coach. In fact he is a very good coach. He just has to learn to manage games better. Most times your talent will dictate wins and losses, but there will be a few games every season where the coach will have a huge impact. Yesterday was one of those games where he made some critical decisions that impacted the outcome.

Yes you are. You said he should be a coordinator, like Lane Kiffin or something.

One of my main issues is the fact that we're running jet sweeps on the goal line. We have no power run game. I've posted this before, but I think there is a lot to be said for being able to line up and run up the middle for 1 yard when need be. In 2012, we went under-center a lot. I love the spread, but I wish we went under-center about 10-15% of the time. In 2012 on 4th and 1, we'd throw 2-3 TEs in there and pound it with Riddick. Pretty much every 1st and goal that year we would just run it. Right now, it's the opposite. We just have no toughness right now on offense, its all finesse.

Don't understand the play calling all game long. Why so many passes, especially late in the game, when running is working and clock is moving?
Their QB looked like a Heisman candidate.

You sir are making a lot of excuses for that piss poor performance yesterday. This wasnt Bama ND was playing it was freakin 3-6 Northwestern!

No, I am not. I'm refuting the specific idea that was presented, that Brian Kelly does not know how to manage a game with a lead. It's an incomprehensible and petty assertion, at best. My pointing out that his record belies the assertion that he is incompetent is NOT an endorsement of his performance, yesterday.

Under-commas is acceptable, but nobody likes over-comma guy. Don't continue being that guy, lol.

If Kelly ends up leaving, Charlie Strong has to be at the top of the list

There is no way Charlie Strong leaves Texas unless he doesn't want to deal with the racism that is rumored to be a problem down there.

I know. But, if Kelly does leave I can dream. You can now see that program turning the corner.

Should hire Gary Andersen then and just call it a day.

I wouldn't hate that. I'd like to see what his Wisky teams look like in a couple years when the Bielema recruits are all gone, but he seems like a great coach so far.

4th and goal from the 1, I would expect us to be in the shotgun and 50/50 be passing it under BK. I hate that. Always cringe when spread teams get inside the 5. I love the spread, but I certainly think there are benefits to being able to still incorporate some power-run tendencies in there. Like how KSU uses the H-back so well.

What the f happened to Hunter Jr.? I thought they had plans to use him more. I think Kelly's pressers are a bunch of BS in hopes the other team is watching.

I'm the one who brought up Charlie Strong. I've been impressed how he has already turned that program around.

Remember I was and still am the guy who wants Bob Stoops.

And you like many others would've praised the call had it been converted.
No, I wouldn't. I'm very consistent in that regard. Example: I was pissed we called a passing play on one of Fuller's touchdowns. Yes, we scored, but I still didn't like the call.

Notre Dame will never hire Bobby Petrino. Might as well get that out of your head right now. ND is the most image conscious program out there and you think they will hire him after what happened at Arkansas? Will never happen. Wish people would come up with realistic options.

Yeah, his one mistake...as I said. Now, all of a sudden, Charlie Strong's name is being tossed...get out of here with that.

His one mistake.... we're 1-3 our last 4 with a win over Navy. He's pretty clearly making mistakes left and right.

People can say these turnovers are on the players and not the coaches fault, but shit like this doesn't happen to well-coached teams.
