I guess I don't see that. If recruiting was his weakness, BK is doing really well at LSU. Depending on the service his 2023 class is like 5th or 6th and ND's is 10th or 12th. Seems to me BK is finally shopping down a different aisle at LSU. The limitations at ND are real. No conference, no NIL, high academics, hard admissions, hard administration, facilities that are really good but not world class. These issues have to be improved if ND will have a real shot at a Natty. BK wasn't wrong about these issues. I seriously doubt Holtz would do much better now.

While he didn't win a lot great games for us, the move to LSU seemed to suit him well as he already bested Saban.

Holtz wouldn't do better. Even HE left because of the administration.

LSU was pre-season not ranked and finished higher than ND which was Pre-Season ranked #5. BK is one of the great turnaround HC in college football today. That is why he was paid the big bucks from LSU. I am hopeful this season ND will fair better.
If you love preseason polls so much, here are two data points for you: ND was #10 in the 2016 preseason poll. After 3 games, they were unranked, on the way to 4-8 under your best friend's leadership. In 2011, they were ranked #16 in the preseason, and after 3 games, again unranked. And again under your best friend.

Preseason polls are a dumb measure of anything other than "who was overranked when the season started." Nobody who objectively looked at ND's team before the season should have come to the conclusion that it was the #5 team in the country. If you bought it, I don't really know what to tell you other than don't gamble on sports.

I one hundred percent believe he left exclusively for the money and the guaranteed contract to see him through to retirement. The rest is just BK making shit up.
So you don't see the challenges at Coaching at ND vs. an SEC Program? You didn't notice all the changes BK had to get ND to make during his tenure??

I guess you prove that a "Blind Squirrel can find an a nut"

Well they didn't factor in the loss of a very experienced HC that is for sure. Most analysts including self-titled ND analysts thought BK was holding ND back.....remember that??

OK let me clarify then. When I said he was making shit up, I meant he was amplifying other fringe issues that had nothing to do with why he left. I'm sure he had frustrations with other parts of the ND job, but I still believe that the real reason he left was the contract. I suppose I could be convinced that the other fringe issues were 10% of the decision, but that's as high as I'll go.

It's like a guy getting interviewed for a job. He wants to show himself in the best light, so he may minimize the real reason he left a prior employer and amplify other fringe reasons if he thinks it will make him look better.

I think BK saw the dollar signs, saw the guaranteed contract that would pay him through age 70 and said screw it.

I think both parts are true. $100MM and a place that is easier to win a Natty at. But if Purdue was to offer him $100MM as well...he may still have left ND too. Most people would. Thats crazy high money.

Truth. The admin was working behind the scenes with Davie to unseat Lou and avoid renewing his contract. They didn't like the status he had achieved within the fanbase and on campus, they wanted him gone.

That's disgusting. I knew they tightened everything up and made it impossible for him to win, thus making him leave.

I didn't know about going behind his back with Davie and being jealous of his popularity and visibility and plotting against him.

BK is not a straight shooter. He left for that monopoly money. The rest is rationalizing what others are well-aware of. It is what it is. He won’t say it’s about money, because politics. I’d have more respect for him if he simply declined to answer the question, because what he has been doing is anything but straight shooting.

Anyway, fuck this topic. My personal last word on it. Peace.

BK has never been a straight shooter. Personally I am rooting against him ever winning a championship. He did a lot for Notre Dame, and I respect him for that, but seriously fuck him. I’m putting all my energy into MFMF now.

Why are we upset with what Kelly said in that video????

Here is the truth:

1. He was sick of fucking Swarbrick and the BOT limiting the ability to win a Natty. Can we really argue with him on this?
2. He wanted to coach in the best conference - the SEC.
3. LSU was off their standards or position. Coach O had made it a mess. Was it a hard turn around? Probably not but it still was a fucking mess.

Combine all three and about $100MM and we are shocked or upset he left??? GMAFB. #1 alone may be the reason Freeman may bolt after the fucking abuse he took this last offseason. I just hope Freeman fights these idiots in the administration hard like Kelly did for many years.

But in that video, at least, he didn't bad mouth ND other than stating the factors we all know are to be true.
Rinse repeat, rinse repeat

Those changes are happening at campuses all over the place. What Kelly was doing was no different than any other coach was doing.

I'm torn.

Kelly winning it all would make ND look bad and basically confirm to everyone that you can't win there. It may even hurt the program.

But at the same time, screw the ND administration. They are the ones who destroyed the program, ran Lou off, apparently plotted and conspired against him out of jealousy and continue to screw the program at every opportunity to this day.

Make ND look bad? We haven’t won a NC since 1988 and haven’t come close since 2012. That looks worse.

And if Freeman stays more than 4 years w the clown show that happened this off season I would be shocked. He will get a look for the OSU job providing he manages to win 10 games this season.

Of course that is the answer from a BK hater. He had nothing to do with the progress. Great answer but horrible take. Do better.

This much I can tell you - this shit show by the Admin over the OC search would not have happened to BK.

Yeah, because he would have just promoted someone internally immediately, instead of going through the effort of an actual search.

He branched out for his DC hires after BVG... but he would have never done the same for whoever his newest OC minion would be after he lost control of the Chip Long situation.

And it was always rumored the DC search was not really his. No idea if that is true or to what extent, but worth also pointing out.

He got the Admin to open up the check book for his hire of Freeman.

Ditto that! You do have to give the ass-wipe credit, he was able to develop a Cajun accent within a couple of days of getting to Baton Rouge! That fake bastard LOL!

Now this is funny as shit. He is denying the fake accent:

LOL. Well LSU fans won't give a fuck if he delivers a Natty this year or next year otherwise they will bounce his ass out soon thereafter.

He had no choice but to petition for outside hires for DC.

He wouldn't have gone outside for an OC like Freeman attempted, imo, so getting the admin to open the check book is moot.

BK got burned (off-field) by going outside and getting Chip Long. He wouldn't have even tried it again.

BK won't win a natty at LSU, I'd bet my balls on it. Tenn will win one before them. Time will tell, but Kirby has the East in headlock and Saban has the West. Saban having a down year last year may be the worse thing to happen to BK.

Sure. But if Kelly wins a title, get ready for a constant barrage from the media and opposing coaches of 'after toiling for over a decade at Notre Dame, Brian Kelly finally cashes in at LSU.".
