They're terrible too. White helmets, yellow jerseys, and white pants I believe is the combination ... we haven't broken those out since the Notre Dame Independence Bowl in the 90's I believe. I also read the players held a player's only meeting. Those, in my opinion, are never good....I got a notification on my phone last night that LSU is unveiling new uniforms, good for them. Lot of good things going on in that program these days
Charlie Weis? lolI mean... Who would have thought having two guys do the job of one, who aren't eye to eye would not work out... haha

I hope you don't mind us having fun despite your presence here, I sincerely enjoy your banter on this board. We've obviously got a lot of pent-up frustration towards BK, none of it is personal! They're terrible too. Alabama's players held a players-only meeting in 2012 before the championship, I believe because the captains saw the younger players becoming unfocused. Of course, we all know how that turned out. They're terrible too. "The process""But there's so much more to that. And clearly, in this instance, we've done too many good things in building this football program that we're not going to panic. We're going to stick with our process. We're going to get better at the things that I've mentioned to you in our conversation."
He says they gonna stick to the process but everything is on the table for discussion on what to change...."So we gotta look at our preparation. We gotta look at how we play-call, how we do everything, how I talk to the team on a day-to-day basis. Everything is on the table for discussion as we try to work through this very difficult time.
Yeah, they all started "focusing" on the deer antler spray!Alabama's players held a players-only meeting in 2012 before the championship, I believe because the captains saw the younger players becoming unfocused. Of course, we all know how that turned out.
iirc, it wasn’t a player only meeting but rather the player council that made the decision to send the two players home. Best thing that ever happened to R. Anderson. He learned and then became a pretty solid player after that.Alabama's players held a players-only meeting in 2012 before the championship, I believe because the captains saw the younger players becoming unfocused. Oh, I’m there, but it’s also not the end of the world as well. Look at the recruiting, look at USC, FSU, OU, etc. It could be a hell of a lot worse. We aren’t in shambles like FSU. Kelly will win a ton of games at LSU (he’ll probably average around 9, 10)…we just have to ride the contract out.
This happened early in his tenure at ND when had made it about “his guys” & the ones he inherited.iirc, it wasn’t a player only meeting but rather the player council that made the decision to send the two players home. But man… BK is on the verge of losing his team. If he hasn’t already.
Meh. I'm young. I've been fortunate to see 3 football NCs (4 appearances), 7 baseball NCs, a Final 4 appearance.Yeah, just ride it out. It will only account for like 15% of your adult life
Charlie 's lack of HC experience was obvious. His staff was always bickering with each other and he didn't know how to fix that. Can't have a winning culture if the coaches can't get along.
I agree with everything you posted. There was a lot of ugly behind the scenes, from fat jokes to the way his son was treated while on campus. They gave Weis generational wealth for starting out 4-2 in his first season because he almost beat the Poodle Trojan Dynasty. He rode Brady Quinn to back to back BCS bowls, where they were embarrassed in both in significant fashion. By year five, his team went 0-4 in November.
He went to Kansas and crashed out there too.
"We" didn't destroy anything. Weis absolutely did not get the job done on Saturdays when it counted most. It was time. That program wasn't getting any better under his watch.
Not at all. Have at it. Y'all have more than put in your fair share of time with BK. Feel free to unleash.I hope you don't mind us having fun despite your presence here, I sincerely enjoy your banter on this board. We've obviously got a lot of pent-up frustration towards BK, none of it is personal!
I get what Charlie is saying, and in the past I think I side with him because he did try and wasn't lazy in recruiting like Willingham had been. He at least left the cupboard somewhat filled when you consider offensive talent left behind like Rudolph, Crist (At one point a 5 star prior to injury), Eifert, Floyd, TJ Jones, Theo, and he secured Manti and I believe Big Lou before getting fired, along with getting defenders like Harrison Smith, Ian Williams, Kap, and the legend Bruce Heggie. Point is, he left a lot more talent than Willingham left for him, especially when you consider there was no upperclassmen leadership on that 2007 team. What was really fucked up is that Weis basically said "I understand this is a business decision, I just want to be able to step foot on campus again because this is my school and I'm an alum" and we were like "sure absolutely we understand" and then proceeded to treat him very differently than some other former coaches. His treatment was closer to a Willingham than one of the other coaches.
That's how I feel as a red Sox fan. I only had to endure roughly ten years of misery.Meh. I'm young. I've been fortunate to see 3 football NCs (4 appearances), 7 baseball NCs, a Final 4 appearance.
Why on earth would he not take the money that he was owed per the agreement of his contract? If the places were reversed, and you were the HC getting fired, you sure as shit would not turn down that money, none of us would. The best part of being a college football coach isn’t the job, it’s when they pay you to go away.I get what Charlie is saying, and in the past I think I side with him because he did try and wasn't lazy in recruiting like Willingham had been. That said...I think Charlie would have garnered some good will from the university if he volunteered to step down and not take the remaining millions on his contract. I don't know if that discussion ever occurred behind closed doors, but he could have saved face and left in a better place if he steps down rather than get forced out. Maybe that option was never given to him, I don't remember hearing how the decision was made. I get that most coaches get their respective guaranteed money when they get fired, but I also think you're in a different position when you're an alumni and you want to leave on good terms. At the very least they could have come to some middle ground maybe, a reduced payout for him to leave gracefully. In such a situation I think he's welcomed back with open arms.
Feels like things just end badly, otherwise they wouldn't end. Takes two to tango. What was really fucked up is that Weis basically said "I understand this is a business decision, I just want to be able to step foot on campus again because this is my school and I'm an alum" and we were like "sure absolutely we understand" and then proceeded to treat him very differently than some other former coaches. Did I miss the part where he said it all starts with him?"The process"
"We are going to get better at those things"
He says they gonna stick to the process but everything is on the table for discussion on what to change....
OMG how many times did we hear this?
Maybe, now bear with me here. Maybe its the Kelly process that isnt working?
Ultimately it all boils down to:

lmaooooo (If anyone can add BKs exasperated face to this gif I'll be eternally grateful)
Did I miss the part where he said it all starts with him?
Will they eat his remaining contract to get rid of him? Will they offer another coach an equally or more absurd long term contract?“For LSU fans, patience is wearing thin. A 7-5 season won’t cut it in a place that expects championships. While the financial cost of firing Kelly is steep, the cultural cost of mediocrity might be even higher,” Boardwine wrote.
“If the Tigers stumble again this season—or lose Underwood—the Brian Kelly era could come to an abrupt end in Baton Rouge. Either way, it seems that Kelly is hanging on by a thread and one more loss might be enough to cut him altogether.”
If they are looking for sympathy for me, they can find it in the dictionary between shit and syphilis. My heart pumps piss for them. They took him off of ND's hands, and for that I thank them, but apart from that? Bone for tuna.I feel bad for LSU fans if they have to stick with him for the next few years.
I love this justification to throw tens of millions of dollars around for a state employee. I find it hilarious. Nothing says culture like poaching the guy away from a job he was in, giving him a shit ton of money, all predicated on the premise that Coach O had let himself and the program run out of control which prompted the hiring in the first place only to now have deep regrets and have concerns about your culture. LOL.“For LSU fans, patience is wearing thin. A 7-5 season won’t cut it in a place that expects championships. I empathize. I do not sympathize. You are right. They did this to themselves. If they are looking for sympathy for me, they can find it in the dictionary between shit and syphilis. Their crowds have looked pretty packed and enthused at Tiger Stadium, and this with all the inflation and economic anxiety plaguing our great nation. I doubt anyone's wallets are getting lighter. That's when they'll start feeling the "culture shock." Better have somebody in mind and locked in, because last time it didn't go so well for them did it? Which is how they got here...
Keep in mind, they were hot on Lincoln Riley first, another guy busting out in Los Angeles right now. BK wasn't their first choice. He might not have been their second choice as I recall. Careful what you wish for I guess.
Side note, somewhat related: wonder what things look like for BK if Rees and Freeman had initially gone with him.

“What the players-only meeting was about, this was shared to me through our leadership council, was that we got to play better,” Kelly said. “We got to stop talking about ‘We should have had this.’ We got to play better and stop making excuses. Feedback was, collectively from everybody, was that we need to play better and stop making excuses. Go out and play and perform and execute.
“From that perspective, we followed it up with another meeting and got a cross-section of what the opinions were. Our guys want to be coaches harder, want to stick with our process, and no complaining. Go out there, get the job done.”
