Revving up the legacy repair tour.

He knows his legacy after getting fired by LSU is being ND’s winningest coach. If he was smart he’d go overboard with saying how dumb he was to leave and how much he loved the place in order to win us back.

That might be the only way and even then, I'm not sure that would work.

He talked a lot of shit after he left. I can't be the only one who didn't have hard feelings when he left, only for that to sour.

He's got to humble himself and flat out admit he was wrong about ND. No beating around the bush, political speak bullshit. Say the words.

That happens, I'll let him back in the ND family.

He would never. That would require some humility and introspection. He has none of that.

Is this really happening or is FBK just wishing and hoping? Unfortunately MF is probably too classy to tell him thanks but no thanks.
I always wonder if he does this to comply with his payout requirements, showing he is still seeking advancement/employment in the market.

generally its the inverse. Coaches who get fired purposely take a year off so their old schools payments arent offset by their new salary at a new school

Yeah that's gotta be part of it. He also seems to be an insecure little egomaniac and probably can't stand the way he's perceived after leaving ND the way he did, trashing them on the way out, and then failing miserably at LSU.

Really?

I can assure you MF has absolutely no problem whatsoever with the manner in which Brian Kelly left Notre Dame.

BK brought him to ND and the manner in which he left ND directly led to a 35yr old Marcus Freeman being handed one of the best jobs in sports as well as a bag of generational money when he signed his original ND contract.

Now politically Freeman can't stick his tongue down Kelly's throat, but he has zero ill will towards BK and likely would love to show him around the program that HE has built.

FBK hasn't exactly spoken glowingly about ND since he left, so I wouldn't welcome him back. But I guess I'm just petty like that. MF on the other hand is pure class.

I think this is a good thing???

Well, sort of. The new Memphis coach is reaching out to several old successful guys including Strong and Fisher to get advice about operating a whole system in the NIL and new-style recruitment age. None of those guys are getting paid, and none apparently are talking any X's and O's. The Memphis coach was very grateful for the advice, which sounds as if it came only through phone calls. The coach said he'd like to get back to the former coaches after the season is deep into late fall, to get their takes on what he might do better, and prepare for next year's roster building.

... went back and read the Memphis coach's remarks. They will not help the narrative here on IE, as he said a lot of remarkably nice things about Coach Kelly.

Going to those 3 guys for help with NIL and new style recruitment is like going to Albert Einstein, Madam Curie, and Henry Ford for help on developing your companies use of AI.

... if they're willing to talk to you about football team administration for free .... ?
... I'd like to talk with Albert, Marie, and Henry about most anything anyway. "Smart" is Smart.
