Most likely dead man walking, but hopefully the team is able to compete hard to the end. Once the season is over, make the decision, hopefully find the right replacement in order to enhance or preserve recruiting. What a sick feeling inside this year.

I'm just disgusted. We have played like crap. With the talent we have, it's embarrassing. That's being real. It is what it is. We suck right now. Stupid me for thinking we had a shot at it all this year. No excuse to be 2 and 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Absolutely none!!!!!!

I think BK is a great coach. He's done some great things in South Bend. But I won't be surprised or anything if this is it. I still think I'd give him another year.

Again, I think he's proven to be great at coming in and peaking in year 3. He's done a great job of that at CMU (won the conference), Cincy (12-0), and ND (12-0). What he's never shown before ND, is that he can sustain a D1 program past the 3 year mark. So far at that, he's been mediocre.

We just extended him. They are not going to want to pay out another contract. I realize this season is unacceptable, but I could see Swarbrick give him another year, because they won't want another Weis scenario, and we may not be able to land an upgrade. I think those two factors are keeping him employed.

What is the difference from firing him at the end of the season and right now? If the decision is to fire him, do it now. It is an uphill battle just to make a really shitty bowl game. With the schedule ND had this year, I thought it was a real possibility of making the CFB Playoff.

I would give him one more year, but do some major coaching changes.

If you're still holding out hope for the bold, you're wasting energy. It won't happen.

I know it's no excuse because BVG's hire is completely on Kelly but I wonder if some of the offense's struggles and inconsistency is in part due to BK focusing on the defensive side of the ball since BVG was fired.

The defense has without a doubt improved since BVG was let go but it seems like the offense has taken a step back also. Was just thinking maybe that because BK has had less insight there or doesn't quite have the same grasp on the offensive personnel at the moment, that that could be a reason for the offensive struggles?

I know last week the offense's struggles (and defense's success) was largely due to the fact that they were playing in a pond but these were just some thoughts. Seems like whichever side of the ball BK is more involved with becomes the strength and the other side becomes inconsistent and sloppy.

If we take the Notre Dame name off, any other team that returns 11/11 offensive starters and hires a dynamite DC would get a lot of hype considering every loss on their schedule was within one possession.

Just look at the hype Washington received. They went 7-6 last year, but received a ton of hype because of what they returned and how close their games were. 2001/2002 Ohio State is another example.

Brian Kelly could go 2-10 and still deserve 2017 in my view.

We haven't even played the 3 best teams on our schedule lmao.

The funny thing is we'll find a way to win at least one of those games.
Notre Dame will spoil someone's year, guaranteed.
But then we'll lose to Army.

BK is great at coaching up against better teams and coming from behind and "making it close late"
If we played all top 10 teams, I truly think we'd have a better record.

To answer this question and all the other useless polls after we lose more games the answer is NO DO NOT FIRE KELLY.

I love it how people think a coaching change will make us playoff contenders.

We all have a our dream list of coaches, but I think many coaches are turned away from ND because of the pressure that comes with being a head coach here.

What should happen, and what will happen are sometimes two different things. This is one of those cases. BK comes back.

The pressure? No different from the pressure at Alabama, LSU, OSU, Michigan, etc., etc. It's a big-time job. Nobody on the "dream list" is afraid of the pressure.

Last night I was numb to the loss.

I woke up today very depressed.

I've always been behind Brian Kelly.

But, it's time to move on now. It takes a lot for me to say that.

Let's start fresh.

Yes, the pressure. Notre Dame may not be what it used to be, but when Notre Dame is down people continue to kick and kick more so than other teams. I think there is more pressure at ND than the teams above.

No doubt coaching Notre Dame football is the toughest football.

If you win a national championship you will be remembered for ever!

And 80% of the board won't like the hire because it won't be a top 6 coach.

Who are the top 6? IMO:

Saban (0% chance)
Meyer (0% chance)
Harbaugh (0% chance)
Petersen (0% chance)
Dabo (0% chance)
Petrino (0% chance)

The odds of getting a top 6 coach is exactly 0%. Anyone who thinks otherwise is wishing in one hand, and sh-tting in the other. Only one hand will fill up.

I don't think many people have those delusions of grandeur.

A friendly reminder that
Christian McCaffrey was not playing
Christian McCaffrey was not playing
Christian McCaffrey was not playing
Christian McCaffrey was not playing
Christian McCaffrey was not playing
Christian McCaffrey was not playing
Christian McCaffrey was not playing

Say it seven times, because it's year 7.
