I have found that beating the opponent on Saturday is usually the best way to talk. The rest... simple chatter.

P.S.

Beat the hel* out of Michigan for me. Thanks.

I think it was just a shot at michigan, letting them know they aren't important to us. We are moving on and they are being left in the big 10.

I dont follow most on here because navy vs nd isnt a big game to me 71-12 is hardly what i consider to be a rivalry game, not to mention i respect navy, and like seeing them do well. Michigan and usc are what i consider the definition of a rivalry. I hate both of them. The fact that michigan is 10 minutes from south bend, and the scum fans are all over the place makes tensions very high.

Why give an opponenet ANYTHING to run with the week prior to a game that has been so close and important for years in a row now???

I just don't get any of this...

Bulletin board material? Well, Hoke already give ND bulletin board material with the "chicken" comment. Bulletin board material is overrated in my opinion. If a team wins or loses based on that, then they were not very good to begin with.

In Murray Sperber's history of ND football I recall Michigan being at the forefront of the anti-Catholic force that included Northwestern and Chicago which essentially banned ND from playing the big boys in the Big Ten.

But what I really want to say in defense of BK is that I went to ND from '63 to '67. We were national champs our senior year. I like to think that wasn't that long ago. And there was NO RIVALRY with Michigan. I took my new wife to see the Irish play MU in '81 (one of the best college games I have ever been to) but this supposed rivalry is only a few decades old whereas USC, Michigan State, Navy, Purdue - those have been around for much longer and while, for example, Purdue and Navy have not produced dramatic games in recent years like ND - Michigan, I can assure you they used to.

I can remember when Babe Ruth and Wayne Gretzky were the starting QBs for the 1972 Notre Dame/Michigan game held at the new Yankee Stadium. Truly a game for the ages.

Indeed it was. I was there. Yeah, that's the ticket. It was a classic, I tell ya, a classic!

I'm going to miss this game. I HATE Michigan in ways I just don't hate USC. Don't get me wrong, I have no love for USC but just seeing Michigan gets my blood simmering.

IMO- the blood boils hotter for Michigan because the recent losses were more painful. SC usually just smashes us when we lose, but Michigan stabs you in the gut just when you think you won.

When I was a kid we went YEARS without losing to either. The old Desmond Howard game was a shock to my system.

For me, it comes from losing many games I felt that we should've won... usually to crappy teams of theirs on bogus plays or blown calls... and the fact that the school worships multiple bigots, KKK sympathizers, and endorses their a "legendary" coach who once beat up an assistant for daring to recruit an African American player.

I just have zero respect for a program that has won half a championship since the 40s, perennially ducked tough competition because they were bigots and/or pussies, forces football players into joke majors, and doesn't even regularly compete for Big Integer championships anymore despite being horrible... but runs around trumpeting how they're the gold standard of college football and calls us "chickens" accelerating the end of a series that their own administration was already backing out of.

I cannot wait to never play them again.
