Legitimately makes me sad this is a real thing that are football team might have to go through.

Though only saving grace will be that it'll be after beating LSU in another bowl game.

I understand that Daniels was the star for LSU but what makes you think ND will beat anyone not in the MAC without three of their starting OL, one DL, and QB?

ND-LSU will be in Tampa at the ReliaQuest Bowl, no pop tarts for MF and BK sadly

Apparently the alumni lottery for tickets is already planning on ND in Tampa. Dad said he just put in for tickets, should know by Monday if he gets them. We will already be in Florida for the New Year 😁

I have a hunch that Daniels, Nabors and others will be convinced ($$$) to play if it's LSU vs ND. Kelly has ways.

:ROFLMAO: Yeah, right....you should know better than that. Look what happened to Jaylon Smith. Dude was a beast and a projected top 5 pick, and then he suffered that unfortunate, awful injury in the Fiesta Bowl.

That said, Brian Thomas will (and should) sit too. The only reason Nabers may briefly play is due to him being just 22 yards shy of the LSU career record for yards receiving that's held by Josh Reed. They may trot him out there for a couple of catches in order to break the record, but that'll be it. Other than that, this will very much be LSU's JV team on offense (i.e., Nussmeier will be throwing to Kyren Lacy, Chris Hilton, and such).

Sadly, our secondary will not allow him to reach his mark so it'd be better if he just sat it out. ;)

Possibly so. ND’s got some great corners. Morrison certainly held Marvin Harrison in check.

I only wish we could find out. This day and age of opt outs and JV-squad bowl game matchups doesn’t really do it for me.

Completely agree. And of course, I realize Nabers is a really special WR and is very capable of getting what he needs on a single grab.

Sadly, the two teams that square off in the bowl game will be different than the ones we watched this season.

Since this is a Bowl thread:

I’m surprised and VERY happy Michigan didn’t jump UGA in the CFP.

I thought for sure beating OSU would jump Michigan to #1. And was hoping UGA would jump them back next week.
Now, if UGA beats Bama & UM beats Iowa, UGA will surely stay #1.

Why is this important you ask?

Because if Florida St. beats UL, they will be #4 most likely.
I didn’t want Michigan getting FSU without Jordan Travis in the CFP.

I want UM to get the toughest road possible.

I think Oregon beats Washington.

The ideal scenario (other than UM losing to Iowa obviously), is;
1 UGA
2UM
3 Oregon or Washinton
4 FSU

I want UM to have to beat both Oregon & Georgia.

I hope the CFP committee would have Oregon jump FSU if they beat Washington.

I don’t want UM 2 & FSU 3 either.

Now that ND can’t win it, my next biggest rooting interest is Michigan losing.

If UL beats FSU and/or Bama beats UGA, all hell will break loose.

Please make Michigan have to get through 2 good teams.

My sentiment exactly!! The real question comes if Bama wins? Is Bama in? Does UGA fall to 4 or 5? No sec team in the playoffs?

I thought for sure the CFP would move Bama up higher, to position them for the CFP in case they beat UGA.
But they couldn’t move them ahead of Texas, who beat them.
The ideal situation was for FSU to lose to UF & eliminate them. If UL beats them, that could eliminate the ACC all together.

Then you have Texas, who if they win, can’t be jumped by Bama can they?
There is the problem at hand.

UGA can’t lose to Bama, and then get in over them.
They can’t put both Bama & UGA in & leave Texas out.
Winner of Oregon/Wash is in.
Michigan will beat Iowa and get in.

So basically, 3 teams for 2 spots if UL wins & Bama win.

Or 3 teams for 1 spot if FSU & Bama win.

Could you imagine that?
Michigan wins-in
FSU wins- in
Ore/Wash winner - in

Bama beats UGA
Texas beats Okie St

Who gets 4th spot?

UGA- Two time defending champ, 1 loss, no conference title, head to head loss to…

Bama - conference champ, beat UGA head to head, 1 loss to…

Texas - 1 loss, conference champ & head to head over Bama.

In that scenario, wouldn’t it be Texas?
Only 1 of the 3 with conference title & head to head win.

It's the ultimate test of SEC bias. Can you leave out a one-loss SEC champ? What if the one loss came to a one-loss champ of the lowly Big 12? And since the CFP's favorite tie-breaker is "best win," who has the better win? Bama over Georgia? Or Texas over Bama?

Are you talking ND this year?
It won’t be hard if they are in Tampa or Orlando, which it looks like they will be.
Yeah. I have a buddy that lives 2 hours away from Tampa.

If Bama beats UGA they should be in IMO. UT schedule was a joke this year. Ideal situation is oregon/washington winner, Michigan, then both Alabama and Georgia because Bama wins the SEC championship and Louisville beats Florida State while UT struggles with OKSt and gets left out. No way Michigan clears that field. If they do, it would be gut wrenching but they would have earned it.

This is exactly why the 12-team CFP format is coming online in 2024! Won't need to worry about this sheet anymore...

It's going to be WAYYYYY worse.

More teams will feel like they deserve to be in the 12 team playoff and teams will be complaining and fighting for their first game being at their home field.

Not ND! InDePeNdEnCe

Edit, nvm, it's a 1st round BYE we're self mutilating to, not ability to play at home.

Ummmm - this likely guarantees that in most cases, ND's playoff game will be at home...

The teams that are ranked 5-8 will have home games - that includes ND.

I think you are getting this confused with the top four seeds getting a bye - which ND is not eligible for...
