The problem with the Independent Bowl is that it won't earn us any more respect even though we will have played a 13th game. I just think it would be kind of funny to piss people off even more. Notre Dame haters will never be converted. I mean, half the ND fans need conversion therapy to love being a fan again.

No its not... it is talked about on about every ESPN/NBC/CBS/247 sports talk station, every one of them is stating that it better be soon that ND joins a conference.... you must be living in a cave down by the river......

Who gives AF what talking heads say? That doesn’t make them right. They’re probably the same folks who thought Utah was the 5th best team in the country.

I am not for expanding the playoff to 8. I do not like the idea of each P5 conference getting an autobid. The PAC is garbage and the BIG12 is OU and the rest of garbage.
Frankly ND at 11-1 will be close to a playoff spot every year. 12-0 is a lock.

As for joining a conference just to play in a conference championship so you can sell it to kids.. I guarantee that Saban, Meyer and whoever else does not use their conference championship game as a selling point. Its play time, its path to the NFL etc.

From Stewart Mandel's final projections in The Athletic this morning. He's saying KState, but I'm thinking it could be any of the 3, rn.

I’m still expecting an Alabama-Michigan Citrus Bowl, but the Big 12 putting two teams in the New Year’s Six may put a dent in a potential Notre Dame-Texas Camping World Bowl. The Alamo may take the ’Horns first. Or, it could opt for 8-4 Oklahoma State or 8-4 Kansas State.

I couldn’t care less about this matchup. ND wins and it does nothing for them and if they lose its a complete embarrassment. ISU has a Juco ridden roster and this will be like the super bowl to them.

ND lost hope of any win doing anything for them this year after they got roasted in ann arbor. All they could do was beat their heads against the wall and play out the string and try to win them all for pride's sake. Too many ranked teams in front of them that didn't/weren't going to lose. Given the general shittiness of all opponents post-michigan, *any* loss after that would have been a complete embarrassment.


That said, I like this matchup. They've never met before so, I like that aspect.

Can't expect all the bowl perks of an ACC team without actually joining the conference. I'm not advocating joining full time but this is what we signed up for.

AMES, Iowa. (KCRG) - The Iowa State Cyclones (7-5) will play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-2) in the 2019 Camping World Bowl on December 28th in Orlando.

The Cyclones finished tied for third place in the BIG12 and earned a berth in a bowl game for the third season in a row. Iowa State has the opportunity to achieve three eight-win seasons in a row for just the second time in school history.

Iowa State and Notre Dame have never played against each other.

The Cyclones set a single-season record for passing touchdowns, points scored and total offense behind sophomore quarterback Brock Purdy.

The Camping World Bowl will be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, December 28th. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:15 P.M. CT.

Both teams weren't that impressive, other than a fluke upset of Oklahoma by K State. Neither team was that good, losing to competition they shouldn't have and sometimes by 2+ scores. Iowa State lost 5 games, but they were in all those games. They lost to Baylor, Iowa, and Oklahoma by a COMBINED 4 points. If we lose to a 5 loss Iowa State team the optics are just bad, and it's certainly a possibility. On the other hand, a win over Iowa State does nothing for us really because they're not viewed as a traditionally competitive team. I would have rather had Texas, I think we would have handled them.

I had low expectations for this season, but somehow it’s still disappointing. That MI beat down just changed the whole world for this team. I’d REALLY like to see the administration either commit to football, or take us to the Ivy. this in between shit really stinks.

None of the four teams presented us with any type of win that would move the needle. Let’s be clear on that. Oklahoma State and Iowa State don’t have the talent we do which is why I prefer them. Kansas State, do they even play football still? But with UT they actually have the talent to do exactly what Michigan did to us if we don’t show up. I have no idea how our db’s would be be able to run with their receivers. I’ll take Iowa State all day over UT in this scenario.

Apparently you had super high expectations for the season because 10 wins is great. 32 wins over 3 years is hardly in between shit.
