ND is certainly capable of winning the next 2 games by multiple TD's. I'd be curious to see how they're viewed if they win their last 4 games going away, by say 20 pts or more.

1) 12/28 Fiesta Bowl $6M PLAYOFF
2) 12/28 Peach Bowl $6M PLAYOFF
3) 12/28 Cotton Bowl $4M AT-LARGE/GROUP OF 5
4) 12/30 Orange Bowl $4M ACC/BIG TEN/SEC/ND

5) 1/1 Rose Bowl $4M BIG TEN/PAC-12
6) 1/1 Sugar Bowl $4M BIG 12/SEC

7) 1/1 Citrus Bowl $8.6M BIG TEN/SEC
8) 12/31 Alamo Bowl $8M BIG 12/PAC-12
9) 1/1 Outback Bowl $6.4M BIG TEN/SEC
10) 12/27 Holiday Bowl $6.3M BIG TEN/PAC-12
11) 12/27 Texas Bowl $6.3M BIG 12/SEC
12) 12/28 Camping World Bowl $5.8M BIG 12/ACC/ND
13) 12/30 Music City Bowl $5.7M SEC/ACC/BIG TEN/ND

Obviously, the goal is to get into a New Years Six bowl. After that, ND is almost certain to get the Camping World Bowl unless all hell breaks loose and ND loses to BC and Stanford. Basically if ND doesn't make a New Years Six bowl then they'll head to best possible one they can go to which isn't all that bad. I'd love to see them squeak into the Cotton Bowl or Orange Bowl but its a long shot at best.

LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, Utah, Oklahoma, Penn St, Minnesota, and Baylor right now are all with 1 loss or fewer as it stands and that would make it a Camping World Bowl appearance cause there's only really 11 slots in the new years six games with a group of 5 getting in. Probably also need Florida and Michigan to lose before the end of the regular season as well to hop over them.

I thought Baylor would take a big drop after blowing it against OU and Minnesota would drop lower than they did as well. Minnesota or Wisconsin is going to lose another game since they play each other and that winner will probably get rolled by OSU. PSU should drop below us after this week and scUM should take a nosedive as well. That should get us around #10 at the end of the season.

Either Utah or Oregon will lose one more but I don't see them dropping too far.

The main issue is Florida... who is unlikely to lose, and unlikely to move down below where they are currently slotted. There are a number of secondary concerns, but it's really Florida that is likely to grab the Cotton Bowl spot and leave ND on the outside looking in.

And their only win over a ranked team would be Auburn - who’ll probably be in the 20s if they lose to Bama.

A side note but how do all those second-tier bowls have bigger payouts than the NY6s, and in some cases the playoffs?

More importantly, can you imagine how fun bowls would be if that was a cash prize the players were playing for and it got divided up among the team?

Do it WSOP style and put a giant pile of cash on the sideline of the 50.

So looking at the AP, you have #25 Virginia Tech, #28 UVA, #29 Navy and #33 USC. The coach's poll has them around the same, with minor differences. Using this as a vague approximation of the committee's thinking, that isn't bad for us at all, assuming they continue to win (which would knock SMU and Pitt out of contention).

It's possible Thanksgiving weekend has ranked Navy going to the AAC championship, a ranked Commonwealth Cup matchup deciding the coastal champ, and then USC (or fuck it, Louisville) sneaks into the rankings on conference championship week.

Yeah but we still wouldn’t jump Florida - with its lone ranked win over like No. 23 Auburn - because they’re in the SEC and it just means more.

I'd love to get a NY6 bowl. But you can't lose by 30+ and expect preferential treatment over other teams with 2 losses.

Well, when it's all said and done there will be a lot of 2 loss teams with warts on their resume so this is a fairly short sighted view of it all.

If Clemson were to lose to the Coastal champion, which will be either Virginia or Virginia Tech, and falls out of the Committee's Top Four, the Orange Bowl gets that ACC Champion. Clemson gets the Cotton Bowl slot.

The ACC Champ (Va/VT) with three losses is not ranked in the top twelve in the final rankings. ND at 10-2 is in the top twelve due to losses by Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Auburn and Baylor.

Playoff teams include the Big Ten, SEC and Pac 12 champions and a second SEC team.

Blowout loss to Michigan is more like a violent herpes outbreak than a wart.

That blowout seems to be hurting us. Still at 16 after hammering a ranked Navy who is not ranked. Neither is VT or UVA in the latest Playoff poll

It was a truly embarrassing loss and we are ranked correctly in my opinion.

It's amazing how, going into the Michigan game, the thinking was even if we lost and went 10-2 we'd still be a near-lock for an NY6 bowl. Then we got blown out and now it's almost impossible for us to climb back into an NY6 bowl.
Though given that the real issue is the pileup of SEC teams in front of us I'm not sure it'd matter if we'd lost by 3 or 30. We'd be behind Florida either way.

And they're such trash too... lol For whatever reason I've watched a few of their games this year and yeah... give them a real schedule and they prob have 4-5 losses right now.
That's kind of funny when Florida has played a tougher schedule than ND this year.

Agreed. Can’t lose to the only 2 above average teams on the schedule (in one case in breathtakingly devastating fashion) and end up top 10. Aka we going camping.

Ranked USC is actually pretty bad for us. Committee pretty clearly laying the groundwork for a one-loss PAC team to make the playoffs over a second SEC team,, which would basically ruin our chances.

I know nothing about this bowl. What did it used to be called? What tier group of other bowls is it in?

Used to be the Russell Athletic Bowl and before that Champs Sports Bowl. We played in it in 2011 against Florida State.

Been tons of other names. Blockbuster, CARQUEST, Tangerine, Micron PC, Champs, Russell.

We've been once and lost to FSU.

Thanks for the info guys. It sounds like a pretty cruddy bowl and it's bs that we have to go there whether we finish 10-2 or 8-4.

Mr. Yuck bowl all the way.

I don’t think they have honestly. They played three games all year,... and like five Towsons

Well, they have played 3 games, but have won one of them.

I think out bottom 4 wins are better than their bottom four, but they clearly have the best win overall and their worst loss is a 14 point game to the #1 team in the country. UGA loss is a wash between the two.

So, yea, I think they deserve to be ahead.

Guys there are objective measures on strength of schedule. UF has the 11th best we have the 29th best. Can’t argue they shouldn’t be ahead of us, unfortunately. (Not that NDaccountant was)
