The compound where Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces is located a bit more than 1,000 yards from a Pakistan Military Academy, raising some questions about how much information the Pakistan military may have had about his whereabouts.

U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, Senate Armed Services Committee chairman, said during a press conference that the Pakistani army has "a lot of explaining to do."

Senior defense officials said that for a majority of the 40 minute operation at the Abbottobad compound, special forces were involved in a firefight - clearing their way through two other floors before they reached Osama bin Laden.

Bin Laden was not killed until the last five to ten minutes of the firefight, officials said.


Bin Laden and his family lived on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the 3-story building, and those floors were cleared last, the official said. The official says one of bin Laden’s own wives identified his body to U.S. forces, after the team made visual identification themselves.

I want to see the video! at least a few of the soldiers that hit the ground must have had video recording devices with them (i bet each and every one of them did).

I want to see the video of OBL getting capped!! there are probably multiple angles of the entire 40min raid

You are correct... RF relay linked back to HQ. Think helmet cam with IR.

There is definitely footage, and it is definitely classified. Along with the names of anyone involved with the mission. If that footage ever sees the light of day, it won't be for another 50 years.

if there is footage I bet it leaks by the end of the week...

anyway, good job Bush, good job Obama... good job Seal team 6... everyone who had a hand!... nothing bad to say about anyone here, good stuff...

and let's all hear it for enhanced interrogation... I'm hearing that's how we got him.

I think we may see a lot of cells picked up in the coming months. They supposedly took a treasure trove of documents and other information from the compound on Sunday. The M.O. of intelligence/counter-terrorism ops is to conduct a lot of surveillance and wait to make arrests until the last possible moment before an attack, in an effort to accumulate more intel from the surveillance. So we may not see a hundred arrests this week, but over the next few months I'm sure their will be some spike in the number of cells that are broken up.

I was at ground zero the other day checking out the progress on the Freedom Tower. I still cant believe they are building such a weak replacement. Two towers at 110 stories go down on our nations darkest day and over 10 years later we replace them with one 82 story building........weak.

Yes, we're rebuilding smaller than what we had before. I was hoping to at least match the size of the original towers. I'm not sure why that is a strange complaint, most New Yorkers that I have spoken with feel the same way.
