He is out of control. There is no way that he personally knows these cases, either. He’s rubber stamping whatever some aid puts in front of him.

This shouldn't come as any surprise. Does anyone really think he had any real control during his presidency?

He’s sticking it to everyone.

Crazy this dude ran for a second term.

I can believe - not sure it's actually true - but plausible and possible, that the press and the insiders didn't realize how bad he was in 2020. That they didn't realize soon after he took office, let alone by 2023 and early 2024, is NOT plausible or remotely believable. His handlers, his family, the DNC, and most of the press 100% staged a disinformation campaign and knowingly misled the American public about his ability to do the job and who was in charge and running the show. They screwed the public and their own party by covering it all up and getting him through the primaries for the nomination instead of letting the country have a legit primary and find a more capable nominee. This went well beyond typical lying in politics. This was a dangerous, outright fraud perpetrated on the country.

I'm more surprised at anyone being honestly surprised. Key word there is "honestly."

Not a bit of this surprises me. People were yelling about this early on, and we were lied to by KJP and others in the administration. We were told Biden was the sharpest person in the room, and they made excuses why he was being led on and off stage by handlers. The only shocking thing is the fact they were going to continue this for another 4 years until the debate with Trump really showed his decline. Talk about a threat to democracy, we had puppets handling the country and running interference on his "off days."

I'll say it again: while there are politicians that are fully capable and cognizant to do the job into their 70s and 80s, I think for the safety of our country we need to cap it so nobody is able to run for office after 70, 68 for Senators (And maybe even a few years earlier). The alternative is enlisting a 3rd party to test cognition of candidates once a year, because we know doctors internal to administrations will fudge the numbers. When you're 70 and 80+ you're already past retirement age. Enjoy the golden years, no need to be serving in office in some of the most powerful positions in the world.

The same people telling us that we should 100% believe all of the nasty things Trump says behind closed doors (per an anonymous Whitehouse official) are the ones who were gushing about hos 2024 Biden was sharp, reciting soliloquies from memory, and the best version of Biden there has ever been

I think it says a lot about our elections and our voters that we keep putting these people into office.

Illinois elected Dick Durbin in 1997 to the US Senate. Here we are and he's still up in the air about another term in 2026. He turned 80 last month.

However lucid he might be, does he truly understand what the average Illinois citizen is going through on a day to day basis at age 80 and being in the US Senate for nearly 30 years? I'm going to guess no. He can't possibly get it.

Did not have a primary challenger in 2020. No idea what will happen in 2026 in that regard, and the Illinois Republican party is likely to spew out some no name piece of garbage with all the same bad talking points. Probably not going to have any choices in the end.

Joe’s at it again. Commuted all but three on death row to life in prison. His statement said he is against the death penalty. Seems a little hypocritical when he doesn’t commute all of them.

One of them was Marvin Gabrion. He had raped and murdered 19 year old Rachel Timmerman, along with her baby. What purpose does this scumbag serve sitting in a cell for the rest of his days while taxpayers fund his living? This is absurd, the Timmerman family is denied justice, and they've spoken out about the timing and pain this has caused them.

I have no complaint of him commuting the death row prisoners to life if that's how he feels. But like you said, I am curious what is different about the three individuals that he didn't commute.

Shove it off on everyone else.
These people work in the public sector or for non profits and have made 10 years of payments in order to qualify. This isn't some blanket wiping of debt. The pslf program was introduced and signed in 2007 under Bush, only reason there's even this many people available for it is because Trump's first administration refused to grant forgiveness for those that qualified. From 2017(first year of qualification) to April 2020 those seeking forgiveness had a 98.5% denial rate even tho they were fully qualified.

May have been worse under Trump, but that program has a long history of people who had legitimate claims for forgiveness, only to be repeatedly denied. It didn't start with Trump.

Please explain how that's possible if no one was eligible for forgiveness until 2017? The only administrations that could approve or deny it have been Trump's or Biden's

Who cares if they got denied? They probably had an iPhone.

Maybe it's a different but similar program. I don't know. But back in 2012 I was working for an organization that worked closely with people that fell into the "public service" sector. There was a loan program that if you made the minimum payments on their student loans for say 8 or 10 years, the rest would be forgiven if you met certain income guidelines. Heard lots of stories about how people had followed all the rules but were inexplicably getting denied.

Well that sucks for them but that isn't what we're discussing. Nobody from the PSLF program(which all the people were in) qualified until 2017.

The three he didn't commute were 2 white supremacists and a terrorist:
Dylann Roof
Robert Bowers
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

There weren't extenuating circumstances to justify the commutation of all those death sentences. This is yet another Biden middle finger to the justice system and the families horrendously impacted by those peoples' crimes. Commuting a sentence or pardoning someone is supposed to be for rectifying an injustice or recognizing that there were some major extenuating circumstances or that a person has shown an ENORMOUS change and genuine remorse and possibly restitution since.

She’s got the Dem playbook down pat.
The problem isn't Dem politicians who have the playbook down and repeat all these empty promises and BS ad nauseum. The real problem is that there are millions of gullible people who just lap it up and actually believe "They're good people! They care about us and MEAN what they say!" and keep voting for them. It's similar to the old adage about poor people voting for Democrats for 50 years and they're still poor. Long on empty promises and ideas to gullible people in exchange for their vote, and short on actual worthwhile results.
