You can't make this stuff up.

Trump promoted N.M. official’s comment that ‘the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.’ Now the man is arrested in the Capitol riot. (WaPo)

From a Newsweek article:
"I am going to leave either tonight or tomorrow. I've got a .357 Henry big boy rifle . . . that I got in the trunk of my car, and I've got a .357 single action revolver... that I will have underneath the front seat on my right side. And I will embrace my Second Amendment, I will keep my right to bear arms," he said, according to the affidavit for his arrest.

Announcing this on Facebook, a video on the Capitol balcony at the insurrection and at a County Commission Board meeting and not expecting any recourse or that he will be arrested?

Says he is more concerned about losing his freedom than anything else? Guess what.

I don't think Biden will govern with Executive Orders that get around legislation, block testimony by his Admin officials before Congress, fire Inspector Generals, move appropriations from one department to another, declare emergencies, shutdown the government, have the Justice Department join states' lawsuits, or have his properties/businesses benefit from federal expenditures.

He's starting his presidency like he will.

From CNN.com
After he is sworn in today as the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden is expected to sign a slate of executive actions in the Oval Office, fulfilling a campaign promise to act on a wide range of issues on day one.

But you wouldn't attend a rally at the Capitol or a state capitol with a good chance of violence from those carrying weapons. The "Lock and Load" group.

I've never threatened violence or ran around like a moron at the Capitol. I've spent time at the Capitols, but typically in a tie and left my rifles at home. I've found that building relationships and being nice goes a lot further than screaming and demanding.

I appreciate the responses from ND, I#1, arahop and drayer. Certainly the EOs are have become regular actions for Prezs "on Day 1". I was just referring to the those actions as comprised of the Unitary Executive theory and its perceived limits. Correct me if I am wrong that it goes back to Korematsu. We move forward as drayer says "I've found that building relationships and being nice goes a lot further than screaming and demanding."

Cheers, guys!

Biden gives DOJ green light to resume Obama-era 'slush fund' payouts to liberal groups

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-doj-obama-era-slush-fund-payouts-liberal-groups

President-elect Joe Biden is calling for the Justice Department to look into reinstating a controversial Obama-era practice that allowed prosecutors to make settlement agreements that resulted in defendants paying outside groups instead of victims or the government.

The Trump administration had put an end to these payments following a 2017 memo from then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions which was reflected in the Justice Department's manual.

And yes, it is Fox. The rest of the journo world is having a big ole Toobin zoom call today over their excitement and love for Joe Biden.

I don't think it's possible to unify the country. Well, it is, but it won't happen. We can't agree to anything and have different values and goals. The country doesn't want the same thing. Our government is entirely too powerful and too large. It's a winner take all system and the Dems are letting everyone know right now that they won and are going to ram it down our throats soon.

America needs a divorce. America loves divorce. We do it all the time.We celebrate it in the tabloids and practice it routinely. States should be able to have greater control over how people live in their states and take back control from the federal government. Then we could move where we want and live under a similar but different set of laws and principles. For example, I moved in 2019 because I needed to find a new job as my old location shut down. I only considered red states because I didn't want a D governor restricting my 2A rights and overtaxing me. Looking at the population trends of NY, IL, and CA- I don't think I am alone in this thinking.

I think it's long past time that this country either return power to the states or go it's separate ways. The power swamp in DC isn't going to give it back, so we need to just do it. These elections shouldn't be so important to how we live. When CalExit was discussed four years ago- I supported it. Texas Secession? Go for it. I see Wyoming legislators discussing it now? I could live in Wyoming for sure!

Our people are drifting further and further apart and it just feels like we're waiting for the kids to leave for college. We're delaying the inevitable with sanctuary states and the pendulum of power. Give people who think Trump is literally Hitler a path to the Republic of California and let those of us who don't want Joe Biden's failures dumped on us a ticket to Wyoming or Texas.

Somewhere in China, a CCP official is jacking off to your post.

How pissed do you guys think RDU and Drayer are listening to this speech dedicated to unity, treating people with respect (even if they disagree with you), finding common ground, etc.

Been on WebEx since 9. I am not wasting my time with his lip service. The man is a pathological liar, just like the one before him. Which President hasn't called for unity? His actions will continue to drive the wedge as none of these dems actually give a hoot about unity. The problem is that Biden and his folks are more interested in driving their boot on the neck of the 74 million Americans they view as domestic terrorists or that you think are mouth breathers.

Somewhere in China, a CCP official is jacking off to your post.
Or they are going as a plus one to the inauguration festivities with the Democratic House member they are dating. Chinese state media tweeted good riddance to Trump this morning because they wanted Joe Biden and are probably wiring money to Hunter by now.

Again, not one Democrat actually gives one shit about unity. They've cried and screamed for four years with lies and hysteria to do anything they could to stop Trump. This board was a 'walls are closing in on Trump' Lib Anon thread for about 2 years because they hated Trump and now they hate anyone who didn't want to vote him out. Nothing is going to get better. Things will get worse. Probably worse than we can currently imagine.

Good effort, tho.

I'm not attacking the idea of unity- I'm pointing out that it isn't going to happen and that the hypocrites calling for it are insincere. Unity would be nice, but I don't see a scenario that gets us there. People hell-bent on revenge and suppressing the opposition taking a break to gesture unity doesn't excite me much.

Nice try though.

Which actions are you referring to? Since becoming President he has:
1. Said a prayer for the 400k that have died to COVID.
2. Thanked Mike Pence.
3. Is on his way to Arlington National Cemetery for a memorial with past Presidents... except Trump, who refused to concede or attend the inauguration.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Biden's reputation in the Senate was for earnestly working across the aisle to pass bipartisan legislation, and he's been criticized by his own party for working too much with Republicans.

Not a single action he has taken has been to attack, disparage, or insult people on the "red team." Unlike his predecessor, who made a habit out of juvenile nicknames for opponents inside and outside his own party.

And btw, one side passing policy that Republicans don't like or Democrats isn't "anti-unity"... that's normal governmental function. What's anti-unity disparagement and vitriol towards the other side. Wake me up when Biden calls someone a "skank" or "crazy" or "dumbo" or a "monster."

Unity will not happen in this country any time soon. The only thing remotely unifying is Biden's words. His actual policy platform is not unifying, his colleagues on both sides of the aisle in the Senate and House have no interest in unifying, and the media apparatus for both parties is incentivized by a lack of unity. It's a pessimistic way of looking to the future, but it is what it is.

I'm glad you feel unified by empty words and the excitement to get rid of the boogeyman. Meanwhile, he hasn't even united his own party that is still calling the opposition a cult of domestic terrorists, fortifying DC, actively seeking to deplatform and suppress dissenting views, and his legislative leadership that wants to put everything on the table. I suspect those asked to leave their jobs or posts in DC because they are NRA members, known republicans, Parler users, or flagged as right-wing are feeling the same unity that you are. Maybe the Mayor of DC requesting machine guns is just an outlier?

Journalists fainting over Kamala's clothing and dreaming of Joe's arms extending over DC to hug us or whatever the hell CNN said may add a perception that the unity is happening, but I think you are confusing your own giddiness for unity. And yes, driving divisive policies and trampling on people's liberty doesn't do much for unity- even if some of those who want a revolution are cheering for it.

I'll add that unity wouldn't be easy in this environment as the interests are driving us in very different directions with different values and priorities. In the end, I hope that Biden just resumes what he knows best- drone striking middle east families and enriching those around him without causing too much damage. 52 years of public service with one accomplishment (defeating Trump from the basement) would be the best we can hope for right now.

I hope he just offers lip service to the radicals in his party and throws them a bone or two with EO's and the sanity of Joe Manchin saves us all from the will of Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.

Except you literally posted this lie yesterday:
He didn't run a unity campaign, he ran the most progressive campaign in modern history and doesn't speak outside of his divisive rhetoric. Even after the stupid Capitol riots, he defaulted to divisiveness. His agenda is far from the mainstream while he pandered to the truly radical wing of the party that wanted ultra-left.

You're not entitled to alternative facts. Biden was literally the most centrist contender running for the Democratic nomination. Period. And he routinely campaigned on unity, which you can easily Google.

Left wing sources called him a "closet Republican" and criticized how much he works with Republicans:
For Republicans, Joe Biden has long been the ideal negotiating partner — because he’s so willing to cave in on most anything Republicans want.

After the Capitol riots he said this:<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Our way is plain: It is the way of democracy — of lawfulness, and of respect — respect for each other, and for our nation.</p>— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) <a href="https://twitter.com/JoeBiden/status/1346938341791387651?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 6, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
There is nothing "divisive" about that.

True, and he was also mean to Trump calling him the "worst president ever." I'm not saying he will perpetually be stuck in "aww shucks" mode where he's a soft blanket or won't ever go on offense when he thinks it is warranted, I'm saying he has a very long history of working across the aisle and I think the odds are strongly against him attacking conservatives (at-large) or elected officials on anything other than policy. I do not think you will see him call Ted Cruz's wife ugly or try to demonize people. I think you will see very measured rhetoric.

If he moves off that point an unfairly attacks/demeans people during his term I'll be the first to criticize him.

I'm not sure what is complicated here. There are two people on this site who have made multiple posts which the expressed idea that Joe Biden isn't and hasn't been for uniting the country. So then when Biden was giving a speech dedicated almost entirely to the concept of unity and bringing America together, which completely undermines this premise, and I made a tongue-in-cheek post to that effect.

Pretending it's something more than that is just annoying and lazy. You're trying to extrapolate me ribbing drayer and RDU to ===> Joe Biden is anti-unity. That's literally the leap you made with your first quote, and all that deserves is a giant eye roll.

BTW, I like both drayer and RDU. I've posted as much on here multiple times. They bring a different perspective. It's also OK to give people shit on a message board and be exposed to different views. If you want to hand ring over that then bless your heart.

I don't think I've watched any inauguration speech live since Kennedy's. Whether it was Biden, Pence, Mayor Pete, HRC, etc., I would have expected the same speech from whomever was taking oath and would be shocked if they didn't talk about uniting or bringing the country together in some fashion. Bottom line, it's all fluff to make everyone feel good, because it's a celebration ceremony.

I have no idea how this is going to turn out, but it should be interesting.

I would say talking about violence against the sitting president you disagree with is anti-unity... but then again, Biden SAYS hes about unity so I guess we have to believe him because you tell us so.
