we need a loss.. what if oregon goes out barely beats standford and oregon state and we go out to LA and beat SC 75-0, i think its ridiculous to say we a loss from ksu or the ducks or bust...

I hate the BCS. It makes zero sense. It is an embarrassment to the greatest sport this country has ever created. It is a insult to college football fans intelligence everywhere. I honestly can't think off a worse way to decide such as important decision. /rantover

Watching the BCS countdown...what the heck!? They're trying to shuffle us into the Rose Bowl. I wonder if they'll discuss BK's appeal to the pollsters from earlier today...

ND will play for the national championship if they win out, it's just a gut feeling. I think one of the other two lose.

BEHIND UGA, AT LEAST. Not that it really matters cuz they will settle it on the field in ATL. Just seemed hypocritical to me. Certainly in front of FL.

Like you said it doesnt matter UGA & BAMA will settle it on the field . You wont see me argue for Florida, we had our shot and lost to UGA.

Were going to get screwed out a shot at a the title. Because there is a clear agenda against us from the SEC, Pac 12, and Big 12. Honestly, I don't even blame them. Its just the way this completely idiotic system is set up.

Let's please stop any talk now about a one-loss SEC team passing any of the three undefeateds, including ND. Not going to happen.

I agree no way a 1 loss SEC school passes these 3 teams. I also dont believe all 3 of these teams end the season undefeated.

Never been a fan of the BCS. Been saying this for a while. Only way you can say Kstate, Oregon, ND, Bama whoever are better than each other is for them to play. Not whom they've played. College football needs a playoff asap..not some four team crap either. It's also pretty stupid that Bama loses at home and drops down to four..if that were ND they'd be out of the top ten. I HATE THE BCS AND THE SEC !!

Coaches voting ND #5 are doing nothing short of tampering with the system to ensure schools from their conferences get in the title game. It's utterly despicable.

I think its absurd to say that the point of the game is to match up the two best teams. What if Alabama last year had played 12 FCS teams, they would still have been the best (ignore OSU for the moment) yet would have not played anyone. Are you ok with that? The "best" is so subjective that it should be ditched entirely. We don't want the two "best" teams in the game we want the two most deserving teams.

Excellent post and Reps. If Gonzaga knocks Kentucky out of March Madness, no one is clamoring to put the best two teams in the finals, same in the NFL playoffs or any other postseason contest. College football is the only sport where everything is open to debate. It is not about who is the best it is about who wins on a particular night. That is why you play the game if we are handing out championships based on who we perceive to be the best or who is the best on paper, we should give out the BCS trophy out in February after National Signing Day and let the recruiting services be the only voters. The NCAA loves the subjectivity of it all because it keeps a lot of fan bases interested and it keeps passions high both positively and negatively. Playoffs can't get here soon enough.

The BCS picture is becoming pretty clear to me...

Notre Dame will not pass Oregon in the BCS if both are undefeated. Oregon is #1 in the Coaches Poll with their 3 toughest games of the season coming up. If they win those 3 of course they will remain #1 in the polls. And because of the strength of schedule in these final three games for them, their computer ranking will go up and they will pass Kansas State as the top team in the BCS rankings.

An undefeated ND will not pass an undefeated Oregon in the BCS standings unfortunately.

Notre Dame's hope and only chance is to pass an undefeated Kansas State team.

To pass Kansas State, I believe the following things need to happen:

1. USC has to beat UCLA this week. We need USC to be a solid Top 15 team when we play them in 2 weeks. If we can beat a Top 15 USC team then the computers will still love us.

2. Oregon has to pass Kansas State in a lot of the computer polls. Given Oregon's tough schedule coming up, this is entirely possible.

3. Oregon's tough upcoming schedule may help them pass Kansas State in the computers, but let's not forget Kansas State would get a huge boost in the computers if they beat a highly regarded Texas team. That's why it would be really nice if TCU could beat Texas in 2 weeks to make that Texas vs. Kansas State game less impressive.

4. Other small things that can help us is:
a. if Oklahoma can win out
b. if Miami could win the ACC
c. if Wake Forest can beat Vanderbilt in 2 weeks and Pudue can beat both Illinois and Indiana and Mich State can win one more game. Why, you may ask? Because that would mean 11 of our 12 opponents are bowl eligible. Pretty darn impressive if you ask me.
d. if Michigan can beat Ohio State then they are guaranteed to be ranked which would mean we would have beaten 4 teams in the end of regular season Top 25 poll

agree...how in the hell can you not AT LEAST vote ND 3. Conference coaches have 0 integrity...0.

I can make an argument that ND should be 1 if K state is...Common opponents...and SOS.

WTF is wrong with people...

I don't think coaches should be voting on a top 25. How many teams do they actually see play every weekend? Probably only two. Their own and whoever their opponent is. They don't have time to sit around and watch other teams.

Exactly. People like to complain about the computers, but the coaches voting is by far a bigger farse for the reasons you state.

He's having a f-ing field day saying 4-7-8-9 would beat ND.... Not could.....WOULD. SEC bull$hit. He's the up and coming mattress stain that daddy missed the intended receiver.

The entire half hour was a ND rip fest by this jag bag.

What a load of total bullsh*t... Florida almost lost to f*cking Louisiana Lafayette this week. The SEC is so freaking overrated this year it is insane. Texas A&M = middling Big 12 program = capable of beating all of the SEC big dogs.

Wish ESPN people would try some logic every once in awhile.

The most remarkable part is ESPN keeps acting like ND is this cute little story ala "The Little Engine that Could" and should be viewed like Boise was during their couple undefeated runs and stay at the kiddie table.

The greatest college football program of all-time has become a walking Rodney Dangerfield joke to these jerkoffs.........

*Excuse me while I go bong Drano
