Well, last night, the sh!tty part of modding this site reared its ugly head, and we had to ban a very popular member for an extended period of time. It was not an easy decision in a sense, because he was so popular with many of you guys and I gave him every chance to correct himself, both privately and publicly, but he choose keep right on going.
Just to let many of you know who loved the guy, it was warranted. I'm going to take a ton of heat from you guys (as I did the last time he was banned), but again, he was warned plenty of times. I even sent a PM to a couple of you asking you guys to try to see if you could reign him in, but to no avail.
You can't go around attacking people personally just because you don't like the information they are providing the site, or you don't like the fact that he won't reveal himself publicly (NOBODY needs to reveal their names here), or the fact they won't reveal their sources. You can't call people azzholes or pedophiles or all the other names he called him and others, no matter what. And what is worse, it was completely unprovoked. And you can't bag on people b/c they misspell a few words, call people fraud's, brag about how many people you kicked the 'chit' out of (making it sound like a threat in the process), you can't bag on a mod who was simply trying to bring the board back to civility (a different mod, not me). I could go on and on. Again, he was warned several times by 2 different mods, but ignored them, even starting a new thread to start pissing wars.
It's pretty friggin' sad that the mods have to waste their time deleting posts and deleting threads and typing long PMs trying get a guy to calm down IN THE OFF-SEASON. And why? Because a guy had the audacity to give us some 'inside info' a few times (that so far has come true). What's going to happen during the regular season and the Irish let another team get a first down? Armageddon? I understand arguments (I get into them all the time with Wooly LOL), but let's keep it civil.
I'm working on a set of rules (sad huh?) that will get us ready for the season. Several nice guys and great posters were put off by the events that transpired last night and in the wee hours of this morning, and I don't blame them. It was ridiculous. This board is phenomenal most of the time - let's work to keep it that way.
