You can’t tell me this isn’t a top down strategy by the Big Ten because they’re worried about the SEC taking more playoff spots. Truly embarrassing.

And their company line about this matching “SEC scheduling” because they have nine conference games is just crap. Look at the top SOS teams every year and note the number of SEC schools vs B10 schools. It’s very obvious which conference is significantly better.

Except its not true. Would not shock me if Portnoy himself put out that story because he's a sloppy bitch who subsist on drama.

Ehh this statement seems pretty semantic. I’m sure Fox made the final call but it was likely a conversation between OSU and Fox that preceded that. Fox doesn’t want their partner OSU to look bad here either

Except Ross later tweeted that Portnoy won't be inside any conference stadium.

You can read it however you want but I don't think it's semantic to say that the desk crew is what's typically allowed on the field and Portnoy is not on the desk. If Fox says he's not on the desk, I don't see why OSU would be giving the guy a field pass. OSU has let Desmond Howard on the field for years because he's part of the desk crew for Gameday.

Portnoy is exactly the kind of douchebag who would say that he's been "banned" when he just didnt get a limited field pass because he's not on the list of people who needs one, and obviously OSU isn't going to go out of their way to be extra accommodating to him.

The entire B1G is a partner with Fox. So either Fox just never planned on him being on the desk, possible I guess. But they typically have everyone on the normal host list there + have had others like Woodson make spot appearances inside. He also is appearing in non con games it says right there. So I would say not probable. You’re talking about a special arrangement Fox made for one of their hosts with zero outside pressure? C’mon now

The more likely is the B1G schools came to Fox and said hey we don’t want this and Fox obliged. Which B1G school had the biggest voice you think???

You think it's more likely that the entire B1G approached Fox in the off-season to ask that they leave a guy off the desk of their pregame show so that they didnt have to give him a field pass instead of Fox just deciding to keep Portnoy in a Dave Pollock style role?

Then why isn't the reporting outside of Ross, "Portnoy banned from all Big Ten stadiums"?
Because Portnoy wants to create news. Nothing more, nothing less.

The only reason this is even a thing is because Pat McAfee blew up and is (in my opinion) adding some needed juice to GameDay.

Dave Portnoy hates Pat McAfee and has an ego big enough to think he can go toe-to-toe with McAfee in this space. The only problem is Dave doesn't have the connections or experience in football like McAfee does. I think the Portnoy experiment is going to fail mightily which will only up his angst toward McAfee and the traditional media even more.

It's going to be awesome to watch the inevitable tailspin. He'll eventually say something or do something during a live broadcast to get himself kicked off altogether.

Dave is a mental midget. It'll be sweet to see Brady run laps around him on set

I agree with all of this - except the much needed juice part.

Portnoy will absolutely attempt to one up McAfee and say something that is well over the line and Fox will have to react.

I know I am the old man yelling to get off my lawn, but I hate what both of these guys bring to sports broadcasting. The best outcome for me would be for them to get into a pissing match and both of them go over the line and be relegated to frisbee golf coverage.

Ah, yes, welcome to the New World Order of stupid. Nothing sells like carnival barking. Made in America so it's tariff free and probably the one thing that isn't getting more expensive.

With the amount of time I have available, I'm probably more likely to just watch the actual games rather than listen to people talk about the games in the morning. Even if the group of people includes anyone I would consider worth listening to.

I can really do without the Portnoys and McAfees, but I'm in the minority when all is said and done.
