If you're wrestling for it, yes you should just let the kid have it. That's crazy toddler mindset to physically fight a kid for a ball. That being said I'm not a fan of this recent pushed internet expectation that if a guy catches a homerun or foul ball he's obligated to give it to the first child he sees or he's a bad guy.
I agree 100%. But this turd ran over to the girl. The girl was leaning down to pick it up. And then to hold it up like some conquering hero made it look even worse.

Reminds me of this rotten shit bag of a person...

This. I have been fortunate to catch a few balls at major league games,... every time as an adult. As a kid, I had a chance at a few others and always lost out to an adult near me. Never once did that adult say, "Oh well, here you go, kid." Today, however, I'm expected to give the ball away? So my generation will just never be allowed to get one? That's the expectation? F that right the hell off.

I think it boils down to this for me...

If a line drive or hard hit ball is hit to me, and these baseballs at that speed do not feel like catching a tennis ball, and I have to take a lump in trying to catch it then absolutely I feel entitled to that ball. I don't feel like taking a bruise that I have to wear for a week just to hand that item to a child nearby. If I catch it, then I feel it is mine with the option to give it to a little kid.

Any ball that hits the ground or seats to me can be picked up by an adult and immediately given to a child nearby.

One of the balls I caught was off the bat of Jose Gullien, a Home Run to left field... it bounced off the overhang of the bullpen, hit a step, and flew at me at a pretty high rate of speed.... so riddle me that one, Batman.
