Avatar question

I had a great avatar when I first signed up here, Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders.. Sweet.

Then I changed it to Rocket's SI cover...and it went away with no way to change it to my avatar of choice again.


Is there a way to get that option back, or does everyone hate Jerry G and the Rocket? :)


Just wanna know cuz I feel I can find a better picture of the rocket... or maybe Jerry G that would encapsulate my personality a little better than the stock photos that are given. (Not that the stock photos aren't great, they are.)


A little help? Just wanna be me.

I have a similar question... is there any way to do a custom Avatar or do you have to pick one? For instance, Neutered has a Bambi... how did he do that?

Click on "User CP" on the banner at the top of the page.

In the User Control Panel, look in the left hand column under Your Control Panel.

Go down to Setting & Options

Click on the first choice, Edit Avatar.


Read and follow the instructions.

IF you're using a Custom Avatar you have to highlight the button for Custom Avatar AND you have to provide the link to upload that graphic be it on another website or on your computer.

Then "SAVE" the changes.

If it doesn't take. Try the "Reset Fields" button next to Save and go through the entire procedure again.

If that doesn't take send a PM to Jason Pham, Administrator Extraordinaire. I don't use an Avatar so I only say follow the instructions. Jason understands those things.

i've always had a question but never bothered but now that i see this post i'll ask, but i have a custom avatar that i would like to use but there isn't even an option for me to upload a custom avatar. and that "Reset Fields" doesn't change anything for me.

any ideas what i might be doing wrong?

Did you check the button in front of "Use Custom Avatar" in the bottom third of the page?

The dialog looks similar to what's below here (without the buttons I couldn't copy them or the url entry fields)

Use Custom Avatar

You may upload a new custom image using the controls below.

Option 1 - Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website

Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

Yeah I don't have that button either. But thank you for your help now I at least know there is something wrong and I'm not just stupid. Contact Jason Pham?

Yeah, it isn't there for me either. Just shoot Jason Pham a Private Message with the URL of your picture.

I've always had problems prior to my 18 stints as a mod....I could never do it either. I had to go to photobucket with the pics for these guys to upload their avs....then go through the mod option.

Thanks, gentlemen. I went through the photobucket route to be on the safe side. My 1896 ND football player is back!

Glad to see your avatar back. I'm "on the bus" with you in regard to Jerry. My "Old & In The Way" title – a reference to Jerry Garcia and David Grisman – was hijacked a while back by some dastardly deer.

One More Saturday Night ...
