The TAMU OL and secondary are going to really have to perform in this game. Those are their weak spots.

Still can't really find a skill player on the schedule who worries me, but it's mid August. That could change by mid September, but as far as TAMU is concerned, I think ND's defense should have a very good day.

Zachariah Branch is very good. But, no, there’s not an Alpha #1 as of right now.

If i'm an A&M fan i'm banking on our DL helping out our secondary due to ND having such a young inexperienced OL.

NDs D, shouldn't need anyone to cover up anyone. We should be really good in all 4 areas.

Listening to Elko's presser:

Team seems to have the small things like meetings and walk-throughs down.
OL is not necessarily as strength. Maybe as compared to their DL.
It was not a great conference to instill confidence for their fans.

I like ND in this game, we have depth and options. This has to be the game where ND proves they can be a playoff team.

If fans think we have o-line problems they are not as bad as A&M's based off the info here.

My biggest concern in this game is the game environment.

Saw this elsewhere;

Oddshark predicts a ND blowout win.

I think once this offense starts to click we are going to be hard to beat. We have weapons at all of the skill positions (yes even WR).

Can you imagine if ND puts up 56 points.

Serious question ahead:

I'm chronically online but not THAT online, I guess.

Could someone explain what makes the first photo iconic? Is it just that they had a bunch of NFL draft picks on one team at the same time?

And the second photo was trying to recreate those poses when it was clearly just a random picture of 4 guys walking?

I need some clarity!

Is this a publication that people take seriously? (No sarcasm, just asking because I don't recognize it.)

It’s just that bama had 4 first round draft pick (I think) WRs on the same team. All of whom have made an impact in the League.

The implication being these guys are as good as that group. Obviously it’s gotta be a joke.

If you want to get your blood pressure up, listen to the Irish Illustrated episode that dropped today.

From their take, “A&M's offense isn’t having any issues (not connecting on deep balls, WR drops as been reported by A&M sites) and their offense will be elite on game one.
Just give Weigman the Heisman now and our OL is such trash that we won't be able to do anything and the team will have multiple losses.
In short, the team shouldn't even play the game, it's gonna be an automatic L so don't even bother watching or making the trip. Kyle Field is essentially Mordor and we don't have a prayer.”

Great listen from the ND beat guys. I’m being hyperbolic but I’m not far off, it was insane.

The OL is obviously a concern but they act as though there’s no remedy and they didn’t even seem as though A&M will have issues scoring against our D either, it was bonkers.
Multiple A&M reports have stated their offense is having issues in fall camp, they don’t have their OL solidified either, the WR’s are having issues with drops and Weigman is having difficulty connecting on deep routes. I refuse to believe a guy coming off of almost 10 months from not playing will be crisp and elite game 1 against our defense.

It was sobering. They said A&M’s OL is ahead of ND’s since we could have all of maybe six career starts if Knapp and Pendleton get the start.

This is good. Let that permeate throughout down there and seep into the collective minds of the players. I'd love to have them overconfident.

Does A&M have a pre season all american frosh LT on their oline?

Both teams know what they have in their oline going against each dline in practice.

There are serious concerns and there are serious reasons for optimism and excitement heading into the season. I don't expect anything but a grind on opening weekend.

Weigman has a lot of love from various scouts but he looked less impressive in his only true test (Auburn) last year. Some scouts think he can make all the throws. But so could Caleb Williams, we need Golden to have his group primed for this one.

Their OL appears better at this stage because they have a good, returning tackle in Trey Zuhn.
Reed Adams appears poised to earn the LG spart, Kansas transfer, PFF graded him ~63/64 for both run and pass blocking last year.

Their starting center last year transferred to Kansas and was highly revered in his freshman campaign, had a so-so year last year. Now Mark Nabou Jr, Koliuu'u Faaiu and Kam Dewberry are fighting for center/guard spots. I don't believe any of them are very highly rated but I don't have PFF. Chase Bisontis is also trying to carve out a guard spot after struggling at tackle last year.

So they have experience going for them but the only one who whose shown to be really good is Zuhn.

Compare and contrast that to our OL. We have a likely freshman LT in Knapp, a freshman or junior LG, soph Center who beat our previous 3 year starter, a RG who looks poised for a breakout year and a junior RT who is athletic but will have growing pains.

Weigman scares me. Their RB situation is meh but their starter is a very good RB. I'd take our RB room 10/10 times. Their WRs are a question mark, some really highly touted freshmen, a nice transfer piece. WR rooms are a draw with a slight edge to ND due to past production and homerism.

TEs - I'd take our TEs 10/10 times.

Their DL is scary in terms of high school rankings + college production. If Howard Cross is 100% at game time, I'd call this a draw. If Cross is less and can't generate pressure and they can double Rylie, you have to give TAMU the DL edge. Their LBs should be good but I'd take our LB room over theirs but it's not a slam dunk. It's just most of the guys have been in the system and know what to expect.

Their secondary will be good, young and athletic with a lot of transfer pieces. Probably can't execute the same level of complexity as ND given how many returning starters we have but they probably don't have to.

For TAMU to beat ND, Weigman will have to pick apart the defense and Leonard will have to be bottled up. For ND to win, we'll have to pick up yards on the ground, challenge them in the air and keep the sticks moving, waiting for an explosive play to hit.

Special teams could be huge.

A&M isn’t going to throw against ND.
Their gameplan will be to run the ball.
Klein has game film as OC in the past. Whenever he plays a good passing defense he puts 2 TE’s out there & runs the ball.
Klein knows ND’s defense is legit, but the one weakness they have had is against the run. Add in that Bowen will be making his debut at MLB.
A&M will want to limit mistakes, keep it close & keep the crowd engaged.
They know ND’s OL is young, so they will want to protect their own offense & keep it low scoring.
They are going to run a classic ND offense. Multiple TE’s, run the ball & play good defense.

I don’t have to listen to it to guess the following…Prister was pissing his pants again, right?
Yup.
I'm expecting a very close game and prob the first team to 21 wins. it's a 50/50 game for me rn, but it just seemed as though they aren't even giving ND a shot here, I may be reading too much into it. I don’t mind bluntness in reporting, but this was disheartening to listen to.
