Anybody listen to ISD Power Hour? The Rice color analyst was pretty funny. Not that Rice is an FCS team or anything, but he made it sound like Coach Kelly and the boys will have their hands full.

My favorite part was when Mike Frank asked what Rice's strengths were as a defense and he responded that they are "really strong against the run and pass." He just had to be trolling us.

That guy dropped names like Roger Craig and Lynn Swann. Seriously.

For sure. Covington is a man among boys. You won't run his way. Callaghan is tough against pass. Hopefully our DC learned something in Memphis and will have him follow your best receiver. In the bowl M State moved their guy to slot to get open and he went off for 9 catches averaging over 20 per before we adjusted.

After listening to him, it appears we are going against the 07 Patriot's offense and the 85 Bears' defense. He didn't touch on special teams but I assume their punter is a young Ray Guy and their kicker has a stronger leg then Sebastian Janikowski. We're screwed.

Captains will be announced at the presser correct?

I'm guessing Collinsworth, McDaniel, Day, and Brindza. Maybe Jaylon. The strong and true preview focused a lot on leadership, and those are the guy they seemed to focus on.

BK said about wanting Jaylon to take on that leadership role when they were doing some team building on climbing the wall..

I hope the refs swallow their whistles all season long. I hate seeing excessive penalties unless it's blatant.

While you are confident in your TEs, we are merely speculative. We have talent on the roster but only one has game experience. We've lost to Tulsa in an opener (who wasn't a good team) and we've often had difficulty with scrambling QBs, see Michigan.

I'd say your team has all the makings of an upset team (at least against the line). Couple that with the historical precedence of this coaching staff being unwilling or unable to dominate an opponent for the whole game, and I think you have reason to be optimistic.

I. can't. wait.

Opener? October 30th is kind of late for an Opener. Tulsa was the 9th game of the season.

Wasn't good? Tulsa finished 10-3 and ranked #24 in the Final 2010 AP Poll. They were only one of three ND 2010 foes that ended the season ranked. Stanford #4 and MSU #14 were the others. Pitt 8-5, Michigan 7-6, USC 8-5, and Miami 7-6 were all ranked during the season but dropped out as their losses mounted.

Dublin corrected me, it was USF. I've managed to amalgamate all of our most destructive and deflating losses into one nebulous event. All of our biggest wins are distinctly separated into their own beautiful little memory.

CSNbbs - Rice

Rice forum posted above, but not sure if linked.

They seem like a very rational bunch. Seems like they think if everything goes right for them they could pull the upset, but realize they are going up against better recruited talent.

An interesting note is that they believe they have serious questions on the DL. With our OL and depth issues at WR (Daniels and maybe Robinson), I could see us piling up the yardage on the ground for most of this game. Bryant, Folston and Cam could eat.

What's up with Robinson?

As much as M State's line dominated our DL, if you outweigh our guys as much as they did, you have every reason to be over confident coming into the game!
