Damn, I didn't know him personally but I used to always see him at Rolfs (mostly tipping the gatorade machine to get free stuff)... he will be missed. He was a beast of a man. RIP Asaph, prayers with his family/friends.

Haha that's how I met him. I put money in the machine in Siegfried and it didn't give me the drink, he saw it and tipped the machine to a 45 degree angle until it came out. He was a wonderful person and I'm glad I got the chance to meet him.

I remember hearing Weis talk how Asaph was pound for pound one of the strongest guys on the whole team while he was there. They said his inner character matched his outer strength. He may not have had a lot of yards or carries, but to be honest we didn't block well for our backs during that period of time. Never held it against the guy and was always pulling for him to succeed no matter what he did. He was a Notre Dame man and always will be. Feel the same way about James Aldridge and Arnaz Battle, just great guys that gave their all despite the hands they may have been dealt.

I watched one of my best friends battle NH Lymphoma while in high school. Like Asaph he was a large, strong guy who had an amazing personality to boot. Everyday I saw him struggle and continue to lose weight. Seeing my friend at "only" 200lbs was heartbreaking because he looked like a shell of his former self. We were lucky. He is doing great, cancer free for 3 years and in college.... I just can't imagine the heartache and grief Asaph's family and friends feel. May he Rest in Peace, and watch over those who loved him.

My Grandfather died of the same type of cancer as Asaph. It's a terrible disease tears you down till you just can't fight anymore. His family will be in my prayers.

This is truly sad, I never knew or met him personally but when I heard he had passed. It damn near brought me to tears. If I was alone and not with my wife I probably would have cried.

From the moment I seen him play in 2005 against USC, I believed he was going to be awesome. I always thought he was. Even though I read negative analysis and comments regarding his play, I never seen it.

It is always a sad day to lose a person so young especially one that put so much on the line to please us fans.

Man this is so disheartening, I pray for his family and his friends. May he rest in peace and forever look over our beloved program and university.

Saturday will be a great time for Ace. He'll be looking down on the Irish rooting them on to victory.

I'll be there for Ace tomorrow. I remember people saying he was pound for pound the strongest guy on the team when he was there. He wasn't just strong physically, he was strong inside.
