It can vary from state to state. Some un-dyed diesel has the higher sulfur content. Some argue that dyed diesel helps lubricate your engine a little better, but I'm not sure there's anything concrete to back that up.
For all intents and purposes, the only difference between the two is the dye. The dyed diesel is cheaper, as it should be- since it isn't going on roads it shouldn't have to pay road taxes. The two diesels perform the same.
buddy also mentioned that less refined = slower breakdown? Thoughts?
