I ran the same destination trace from my pc and it completed fine. Comparing them, you are getting all the way to the last hop prior to your destination, and then hitting a wall. Very strange. Your path is different than mine of course until you get closer to the destination. IMO it's your ISP. It still could be your ISPs chosen DNS server, but anyway you go, it's likely your ISP. It could also be the site if they have changed anything lately (new settings have not propagated correctly), but that seems unlikely (it has been happening a while).

I've got several engineers on staff and can have them take a peek and give me their feedback tomorrow. I'm the dumb executive and know just enough to be dangerous. My CCIE/NPs are much better suited (I'm just guessing).

Each time that it has provided the error message in the last two weeks is when I have been doing stuff in the dashboard of the website. The site is through wordpress.

Would the site/host/etc block me for whatever reason? I dont know jack about computers, so I dont know if thats a legit concern.

I'm a little familiar with WordPress. Is it happening while you are working or does it happen when you've stopped but are still connected? I'm wondering if it might be a timeout issue on the server?

If it were DNS I don't think it would even try to get there. This looks like routing.

I mean, if the combo box allows you to change the DNS servers it uses via a web interface or a TWC tech willing to do it, you could try the google DNS servers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 respectively, but I believe this to be a routing issue on their end; thus the hop scotch.

Escalate that ticket!

P.S. A tracert from the other end would be helpful.. but that's a lot to ask.

TP, I told you AndyInSacTown knew his computer stuff, lol.

Thanks bud!

I do not know that. I tried every password that I have for the ISP

It's becoming more common for ISP's to not give you access to the settings of their routers. Companies like Comcast/xfinity are even setting up the combo modem/router boxes as hot spots for people with an xfinity login, which I think is borderline criminal (thanks for having a spine FCC). Your hardware is extremely common for these types of setups; very commodity.

That's why I had them replace their commodity combo box with a modem, allowing me to run my own router with custom firmware (DD-WRT) to control my own home network (as it should be).

I think your right which would also explain it being an intermittent problem.

To add another note to it being routing and not DNS: I alluded to this, but if you ran a tracert and it started playing hop-scotch it resolved an IP for the address as opposed to getting a "Destination Unreachable" error.

Calling TWC now lol.

Cheers for the best! Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

No, thank you for everything you've brought to the site. I only wish this was something I could assist further. This cold one is for you!

P.S. Good luck and remember the magic word is "escalation".

If this thread were a sixth grade PE class, I would give all you nerds concussions via dodgeball.

Bring it brother. This nerd is 5'11 215 and hits the weights every morning at 6am. I can wing a dodge ball now. Playground at 9am Biatch. :)

So you were the fat kid? Even better.

Looks like someone is outnumbered. How do you like your toilet time? Face first?

P.S. W.T.F. 180 isn't even close to fat at my height. I was getting my black belt that year so it was all good weight. I do tend to knock out skinny bitches though. :) Used to fisticuffs, but I'll rock a dodge ball; prison rules.

Good Golly Miss Molly, you guys!

Images of Tron are running through my head.

And giving me a headache.

Kinda like from a spinning beach ball to the temple.

No LOC, no concussion, so worry not.

There is one site that I cannot get to load in Chrome or IE. It gives a ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT error.

I had this problem with wifi and then plugged my ethernet cord in my laptop and it worked for about 2 weeks. Then started to give the same error. So I got a modem/router replacement by Time Warner and the site worked for about 5 days.

Today I was on the site and then it popped the same error. Spent 2 hours on the phone with TWC only to have them tell me they couldnt figure it out.

Any tips?
Try pinging the FQDN and then the IP address. See if there's a difference. Could be a DNS issue. Easy fix if so. You can PM me for assistance if you'd like.

EDIT: Didn't read far enough. I see Andy is on the case. Offer stands, however.

secure connection (VPN tunnel) back into a work network.

here's some easy to understand stuff trace reports if you want to sound edumacated to TWC lol.

Understand the Traceroute Command

A VPN is what I thought of too when I saw this problem. I had an issue a few months back where my work VPN was somehow hosing IE and only IE on my home computer, despite the VPN running on my work laptop. It never did that before that day, and it hasn't done it since.

Sorry I'm late to the party. TP are you still having an issue? I may be able to assist you, as Irish#1 knows.

Btw @irish#1 did you ever setup your internal network DNS.

Yep, we also converted to an MPLS fiber network for all of our locations. Data is screaming now and we've been able to eliminate terminal services.

TWC hasn't given TP a resolution yet but he's running. I also suggested he run MalwareBytes and Spybot. I've seen malware cause some intermittent problems.

Awesome. I'm going to send you an email to pick your brain on this upgrade you performed.

Not sure where to post this but I'm having an issue getting to the front page of IE. Every time I go to the home page I get a blank white page that just says:

"NOT FOUND

The requested URL /cgi-bin/redirect.ha was not found on this server."

No IE banner...just those words. I can google Irish Envy and go to the "forums" page and browse that way but I cant get to the front page any way I try to do it, whether I just type in "irishenvy.com" or try to google my way in from one of the sub-forums and click on the "front page" link.

We had a bad blizzard here yesterday that knocked out my internet for a couple hours and since then I've been having this issue. If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. Reps and Vbucks and high-fives and whatever else for anyone who can help me out. Thanks guys.

See if deleting "cookies" helps

Thanks for the tip. Reps being sent your way. I just tried though and it didn't solve the problem.

Also, this only happens when I'm using Firefox. If I use Internet Explorer, IE's front page loads just fine. I just prefer Firefox over Explorer and have all my logins and personal settings saved on Firefox as well.

you might want to try and delete the bookmark, and add it back. had a similar thing happen to me. I deleted the bookmark and cleared history, and it was fixed.

the redirect thing though sounds like a virus.

Well that's not what I wanted to hear haha. Or what I was expecting. I figured the storm yesterday that knocked my internet out had something to do with it since I never had the problem until right after that happened. I had IE open and was on the "front page" when the internet went out if that makes any difference.

I tried the bookmark thing too and that didn't work either. Thanks anyways tho and reps headed your way. Sounds like I might have to have one of my more tech savvy friends take a look at it. Thanks again.
