Can someone explain the dead period to me? I thought it prevented coaches from reaching out to recruits not committed to your school and/or having signed an aid agreement. Is it just for the class of seniors? I have been reading that several juniors and a couple seniors have said "Coach Harbaugh called me...." Isn't that a fairly serious violation? Is there some loophole for a newly appointed coach or something?

The college coach cannot make in-person contact with you or your legal guardians. This prevents the coach from making any evaluations of you whatsoever. However, the coach can make telephone calls to you or your legal guardians.

God all mighty. MGoBlog is salivating all over the place with posts like "We aren't that far away", "We compete with OSU", "We'll beat OSU and MSU at home next year"...

Guys, you made a great hire, celebrate and be happy. But you aren't headed to the playoff next year, nor probably the BIG championship either.

Most unrealistic part. MSU will never win because they absolutely despise them. Dantonio would rather die than lose in Ann Arbor.

Mgoblog" Jim Harbaugh will go into every game thinking we will win" No shit. Brady Hoke thought that too. Michigan will be good real good under harbaugh but Jesus they still have no QB or skill guys on the outside. Next year 8-4 should be success. Hopes are a little too high.

thought you'd guys like this, Harbaugh has apparently stolen USC's OL coach Tim Drevno.

USC fans seem pretty salty about it.

If it's bad for USC, it's good for us. I'd be interested to see who they replace them with, they could end up getting their own Heistand...but for now I'll just stick with Michigan doing us a favor.

Pissed off that I gotta hate this guy. He cracks me up.

This. Always liked him. Even when he was kicking out butt at Stanford.

Liked JH since his days with the Colts. Had big ballz as a QB too. He was the only bright spot besides ED in the pre-Manning days. I'd rather cheer for him than Urban.

Truth.

How many think JH will turn the existing 95th ranked 6 recruit class (4x4star/1x3star) into a top 25 by NSD?

It'll be close, but I don't think so.

I think he gets 8-10 more. Maybe half will be 4 stars. The rest will be solid 3's who come just cause it's him.

thinking 12-15 more.
5-6 4star, 5-6 3star, a couple 2s, and maybe hits the juco crowd for a few more.
probably 5-6 of those poached from other schools.

I would say more than 10 but that is A LOT in a month.

Yep, but he has a lot of buzz working for him.
I just don't see him being OK with a lot of empty roster spots even if he has to take some kids that are stretches.

True, even if a kid isn't developed until his junior year, it could kill them from a depth standpoint down the road by getting this few amount of recruits.

I don't care who you're head coach is, if you don't have a quarterback then you'll be average at best. It also doesn't help them that their only offensive weapon that was worth a shit is going to the NFL.

They predicted 10-2 this year and a blowout of ND.

With that being said, depending on QB play, I could see them winning 11 next year. Not because they're good, but their schedule really is that easy and MSU loses Narduzzi.

The problem that I've seen written about UM is the lack of a QB. Before Hoke left, they were saying that there just isn't talent there.

Now, we could easily chalk it up to Hoke and his inability to develop but it just seems that UM really does have a lack of talent and depth. Can JH change that in one offseason? Maybe but I doubt it and see more of a 7-9 win season ahead. There's just a clear lack of talent.

And their top player at about every position group. QB, WR, DB, Saftey, and DL

Disagree. Gardner sucked, I don't see how their next guy in could actually be that much worse. Funchess loss is bad for them no doubt. They get Peppers back though for the secondary, which will be the second best in the B1G. And their DL should be as good or better.

I was referencing MSU

Well somebitch, I didn't here that.

So MSU will lose their top player at every level, except QB.

Calhoun is believed to be returning as well. I think you guys are discounting MSUs reloading skills. They lost a lot last year after their 12-1 season, including probably the best CB in the class.

MSU has achieved program reloader status.

He hasn't yet. But he's been listed as the #3 QB on some boards. And if he grades out that well, you gotta go.

If Cook graded out at 3 this isn't a good QB year.

He has a happy feet problem that leads to back foot throws that are off target. Started to get it under control then regressed.

He needs another year to have a decent pro career. Then he can join the 17 MSU backup QB's in the league

To go with this, I saw guesses that some may not jump because they think they have a very good shot next year
