Harbaugh is back in San Diego with his family. Seems like he has 1 foot out the door.

I was thinking that maybe 'ol khaki pants traveled there to take the family to Sea World, but it's temporarily closed. So who knows?

Football Scoop is reporting that Harbaugh is coming back on a 5 year deal but for half of his salary, at $4 million per year

cheap buyout too. If reports are true and he wanted a NFL gig and no teams came calling then that's just a brutal look for him

This is a cheap way for scUM to punt until next offseason, giving them a way to hold the roster together for the next guy.

I guess Harbaugh could also pull a backdoor cover and win 10 games... but that still probably doesn't matter when he gets beat down by OSU again.

That recruiting class probably saved his job.

What a loser to take a 50% paycut so he wouldn't be fired in shame. He's basically on probation for the upcoming seasons... expect there to be chatter about the "next" coach until/unless Michigan pulls off a miracle season.

The thing about head coaches is that you usually end up wanting to fire your head coach. Hiring one of your own makes it way harder.

I wonder how long Nebraska will tolerate Frost.

Bets on who's next? I'm guessing either Fleck (barring a 2021 meltdown) or Campbell.

In my industry that is called a PIP. Performance Improvement Plan. If it is not achieved in a set amount of time as agreed upon by all parties...you're gone. No liability by the University if it happens.

FWIW, I saw somewhere that this new contract is HEAVILY laden with incentives. Could earn upwards of 8mil/yr via performance. AKA, Harbaugh will make 4mil the next year or two and then "willingly" leave for the NFL.

I agree with both of you. It’s clearly a “neither of us have better options right now so we’ll stay together for tax reasons” situation. And it signals that the Harbaugh experiment was a failure. Hopefully he wins 8 games next year, just enough to keep him around while the program fades into mediocrity

And let’s be honest, “miracle season” means going undefeated or at least beating tOSU b/c another 10-2 w/ embarrassing losses to the truly good teams on their schedule won’t cut it after what fans saw in 2020.

First thing that jumped to my mind. Every sales rep knows what a PIP is

Remember when ND hired an NFL linebackers coach to modernize the defense? He brought that Rex Ryan scheme to college football!

I wonder what role John had in this.

haha tbh SCUM going with a NFL Hire is a classic rebound after Don Brown's scheme was getting figured out and abused by opposing offenses. Typical short sighted hire

No joke, that UConn game is Michigan's "P5 OOC" opponent for the purposes of Big Ten rules

Goes from the highest paid to 8th highest paid coach in the Big10. What a loser indeed. Could he really not find another job?

I never believed that NFL teams were interested in him. I really think he’s untouchable now because everyone has seen thats he doesn’t have what it takes to run a college program even after he was run out of the NFL
