When people like Cuomo and Blagojevich say it's all political you really need to listen to them, just poor victims of political persecution! Larry Nassar says that Jerry Sandusky wouldn't have faced this scrutiny if he wasn't at a big 10 school!
What about Larry Hogan? A non-convicted criminal?
Trump is a convicted felon and was found liable for sexual assault, these are facts.
Cuomo probably was political. I mean the allegations and stuff were definitely worthy of being pushed out. But the timing was pretty convenient. I think he got pushed out over some Covid stuff. I don't think anyone really has sympathy for him.
Rant upcoming, cliff notes here: felony has lost its meaning by our silly definitions.
That Donald is a convicted felon sorta illustrates the position that many people (left and right) hold, that "felony" has been expanded far beyond where it should be.
A felony is just a crime that can be punishable by over one year in jail.
Example of how silly felonies can be: My cousin got busted this spring for collecting contact information and payment for fake ID's at college kids. (The story of how he got caught is very funny and frankly was a bit sketchy by the university post office). Got charged with at least one but maybe two felonies. Something about forging government documents I think. Pled down to a misdemeanor for conspiracy to commit forgery and paid like $2k between his fine and attorneys fees.
Suppose he didn't plead it down though, he would have been a convicted felon (he was probs guilty as sin lol but i dont know the legal elements of that crime). But the stigma or label that goes with being a "felon" really wouldn't have been appropriate given the circumstances. He helped 18-19 year olds get fake ID's to go to shitty college bars for watered down drinks and tap beer in plastic cups.
Does that seem like something meriting at least 365 days in jail? Losing the right to vote? To own a gun? Reasonable minds can differ, but to me - that conduct doesn't merit either a year (or more) in prison, or losing rights.
