So protesters are camped out at both Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham's houses.
Perhaps they should give these folks a call.

When speaking of American politics... I'll nicely ask you to please use American spellings for words....neighbor, for example.
Grassley and Gardner both say let's roll.
Mitch has the votes. Dems radicalized the GOP with their antics during Kavanaugh.

Good for them. Someone has to stand up to the intolerance, fear and intimidation................

I'm now seeing proposals by the media...if the GOP doesn't appoint a judge. Dems promise not to expand the court for at least ten years... oh and they'll keep the filibuster too. Lol
This isn't a negotiation. It's always fun to watch people go through the stages of grief in real time. I should probably go to confession for enjoying the misery of others.... but the German in me can't help it.
Female - I may be reading into Trump's personality, but I don't think he values females as co-equals. (or equals if my grammar has failed me)
I was at first very apprehensive about filling the seat and thought that we should wait. But that would be absolute lunacy to go into an election that could potentially be filled with voter fraud from either side of the aisle without a fully stocked supreme court. The Dems have been clamoring to pack the judiciary even before RBG's passing. They were willing to spread disgusting falsehoods about Justice Kavanaugh on a seat that didn't even tip the ideological balance of the court. The left deserves everything coming to them in regards to the judiciary. It would be foolish to not capitalize on the power that the Republicans have currently before the election

Yes, I'm wondering what would happen if the seat goes unfilled, election is contested and sent to the Supreme Court which yields a 4-4 split vote. What happens then?

If there's anything that Trump values, it's loyalty first and then competency second. He hired the first woman to manage the construction of a skyscraper in NYC IIRC.

I bought the pink polo for Halloween. It’s go time.
Trump said he will announce his Supreme Court pick by the end of the week, moving quickly to fill the seat of liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg and cement a 6-3 conservative majority ahead of his re-election bid. Republican senators Chuck Grassley and Cory Gardner both signaled they support moving forward with Trump's pick.
"We've got the votes to confirm Justice Ginsburg's replacement before the election. We're going to move forward in the committee, we're going to report the nomination out of the committee to the floor of the United States Senate so we can vote before the election. Now, that's the constitutional process."
Don Lemon pitched a fit tonight claiming if Biden wins...we will need to get rid of the Electoral College because it's not fair that a minority of the country can confirm judges.
Chris Cuomo was like "umm you need 2/3 of Congress and 3/4 of the States so...that's not going to just happen if Biden wins" and it wasn't sinking in for Lemon.
As long as a whopping 13 states don't want things changed and/or the GOP has 1/3 +1 in either chamber of Congress...we are all set lol

Right now, you basically don't have to campaign in 36 states. That's a pretty flawed system, regardless of who it helps. It's also one of the primary factors in why vote turnout is so low in the United States compared to some other countries. I don't like the idea of popular vote, because it has its own flaws. But I think that what Maine and Nebraska do for assigning their electoral votes is smart and I hope more states adopt that model.
I'm fine with the limited campaign states for a couple reasons.
1.) Consent of the governed type thinking.
We already know how many states are going to vote, and thats fine. It's not that those states don't matter, we just have that already sorted out.
2.) Swing States
GOP knows they need to appeal to small city and suburban folks and Dems know they gotta come up with stuff that will appeal to people that don't live in a metropolis.
I think all the swing states have a pretty pretty decent mix of rural and urban populations, and since they are scattered throughout the country, could maybe make some argument that they are really a pretty good sample of the country as a whole.
NE/ME Model seems fine to me. If states want to do that, curious how many elections would have had different results under that allocation. Maybe there is into somewhere.
The lower court decision stands.
It's worth remembering that Bush vs Gore had an 8 person court and no one was freaking out about it going into the election. The main reason for consternation this time around seems to be "voter fraud" (unlikely to have a major impact, short of a few vulnerable non-paper states getting hacked which would be crazy) and "disputed ballots" (likely to have a huge impact).
We're already seeing 5% of absentee ballots from black voters in North Carolina getting rejected because they're "spoiled" or not completed correctly in some way. A ballot getting spoiled can mean anything from it literally being tampered with to the mailman spilling coffee on it. All of these factors are outside the control of the person filling out the ballot.
Pennsylvania had MAJOR issues during the primary, and has a lot of archaic rules about "secrecy" envelopes and other stuff that is likely to lead to hundreds of thousands of disputed ballots. Pennsylvania also doesn't allow for any counting or canvassing prior to election day. Nationwide, you can probably expect a couple million disputed ballots, and it's likely that they make the difference in every state polling within 2%.
The entire strategy of winning this election right now depends on either:
1) Trump pulling upsets in multiple states where he has trailed by more than the margin of error for months. The odds are squarely against this, short of massive upheaval in the last month of the race.
2) Contesting the results in Florida, Pennsylvania, and a handful of other states with tight vote margins and getting the courts to rule in your favor.
Donald Trump has already said that he intends to declare victory on election night before all the mail-in votes are counted and go to #2 if necessary. So yeah, this seat might end up mattering quite a bit.
The Anti-Catholic bigots have started to come out of the woodwork. Lovely.
I wish Catholics were half as cool as the haters made us out to be. Knights of Columbus, Opus Dei, some international Papist conspiracy network just waiting to execute order 66.
Instead all we get is powerhouse metro high school athletics and some slightly above average breakfast food after Mass like twice a year.

Even the objective media has shown up. Reuters usually get passed off as a fair source too!
