Sorry Kuehnja, didn't mean to double thread it.

They do say they would be a bit surprised if he left. A raise and title is in order.

That would surprise me. Alford is a superstar recruiter. Is he considered a superstar position coach?

Pay him like a coordinator. Hell, pay him more. I don't think we can afford to lose him from a recruiting standpoint. I think he is a very good football coach and should one day be a HC, but he is more valuable to ND than Green Bay, because they don't recruit in the NFL.

I'm not going to get too worked up yet. They are interviewing several other candidates as well, and Alford seems to love it at ND.

On a related note, correct me if I am wrong, but didn't he and all the other assistants get extensions this offseason?

I don't mean this in a negative way, but maybe he's using this interview (and the Colorado St. job opening a month ago) as leverage to get paid what he ACTUALLY deserves.

ND, learn from Cal's mistakes. He is our Tosh. Pay him twice what positions coach normally make, give him a title, recruiting coordinator, czar of shamrocks, anything. Can't afford to lose him. Like the article says, the 2013 recruiting class is critical.

I doubt anything comes of this. Seems like Packers have not extended an offeryet and even if they did, I don't think Alford would accept based on his love for ND and I think he knows he's a much better fit for the college game.

Living in Green Bay I have a lot of connections to the Packers organization. I went to high school with the Mark Murphys daughter and stuff like that. My dad was told today that there are a couple targets who might be higher on the list. Clements pursed Alford going back they are close as Pete Sampson is reporting. I would be shocked if Alford left. Edgar Bennett imo will move back to Running Backs coach. Not saying this is a lock but colored me shocked if he left. I will report more if I hear anything.

I was watching the Signing Day video of Alford on und.com. I was thinking, we can't lose this guy.

I'm a big Alford fan, but it's not the end of the world if he goes. Some other young good recruiter will come up. I don't think you all are giving Denbrock and Martin enough credit. They are beasts.

That's like saying that just because you love your job, you wouldn't listen to an offer from another company for more money and more recognition.

If he did go (I don't think he will), I will not take that as a representation of his feelings for Notre Dame in the least bit.

Great family. He lives in creepiest house in Green Bay.

I dated a girl whose 2nd grade teacher's niece's boyfriend's 2nd cousin (twice removed) sold a magazine subscription to Don Majkowski one time. I'll see if I can get any info.

At some point every one of the current staff will be elsewhere in life... can't get too worked up when someone moves on at any given point in this business.
