Guard Alex Dragicevich Will Transfer From Notre Dame - UND.COM - University of Notre Dame Official Athletic Site

Sad to see him go. While I thought incoming freshman Cameron Biedschied would beat him out for a starting spot next year, I thought he would get major minutes.

I never saw major minutes coming from him next year. If Martin gets a sixth year, you'll have him, Cooley, Sherman, Grant, Atkins, Connaughton, Biedschied is going to play alot, and I bet Auguste plays as well. That's 8, and we dont know about Katenda yet. Thats 9. Not sure there was a ton of room for Dragicevich. Good role player, but maybe he wants more than 10 minutes a game. Good luck to him.

Short sighted decision by the young man unless he is transferring to, say, Northwestern or equivalent. Which he very well may be.

Of all the players that got minutes last year, I thought he was the weakest (not counting Brooks). Good luck to him.

One of the most awkward looking players I've ever seen

Lol this.

I was at the ND Nova game with my friends and the whole time the made fun of Dragicevich. When he took shots during warm ups they asked of he was a student manager. Lol

One of the very few athletes (out of a few hundred) that actually shows up to my ethology class, so I gotta give him some respect.

What do you mean I thought ND athletes were supposed to show up to every single class?!

Always sad to see a player leave any ND program but can't say I blame him. Good luck where ever he lands.

Not really a big loss on the court when your 'shooter' who can't shoot leaves the program.

However, it will hurt depth, which Brey sorely needs. Brey HAS to play more of his bench, which next year would have been a great opportunity to do so if Martin gets a 6th year plus the incoming freshman that could contribute. So in the depth sense, it does hurt.

I don't know the particulars of why he transferred, but I wish the best for him. Seemed like a good dude...

Terrible defender, spotty shooter, poor ball handler, weak rebounder.

See ya.

This might hurt. As someone else said we needed depth more then ever this year and we saw what have decent players on the bench could do. Alot of you all are slaming him but when he replaced Pat he came in and made some big shots. Yes he did look the best style but he worked at it and gave his all.

I am extremely surprised by this. I thought he showed significant improvement this year, the first year in which he got major minutes. He was ND's first guy off the bench. He actually ended up essentially splitting time with Pat about 50-50 after Connaughton earned the 5th starting spot. I like Connaughton more, but I think Dragicevich is a good player, a player that can and has helped the team, so I'm very disappointed with this. Also of note again, I think, is that he was a very low-rated recruit and he has already exceeded my expectations of him. I thought he was developing very well under Brey.

I wish this was Brooks instead.

Dragacevich asked Brey if he would get more playing time and Brey couldn't guarantee it.

I think with the incoming freshmen and everyone returning, perimeter depth really shouldn't be an issue. Obviously that changes a bit if Martin is denied, but the guys coming in are going to be good. I think there was going to be a numbers crunch on scholarships too if Martin returns so that would fix that.

I hope Alex goes somewhere he can play and it works out for him. He did hit some big shots this year.

Surprised Brooks is staying also, but he is a upperclassman. Always heard that Dragacevich was an excellent ball handler for his size. Maybe he could have helped against Louisville press in big east tourney. Oh well.

He also does some great standup too, great stuff. He posted a video of it on his twitter.

I'm not sad at all to see him go. Haven't we had enough gumpy players who can occasionally hit 3s but wilt under pressure and can't play defense? I'm loving the athleticism this team will have soon. Then it'll be time to see what Brey can really do.

Brey has been here long enough to get his athletic guys here. He is an outstanding regular season coach, but when it comes to tournaments.......

Oh I know he's been worthless in the tournament. I saw on ESPN that Georgetown and ND have been knocked out of the tourney by a double-digit seed the past three years. But Brey's never had athleticism like this on his team.

I couldn't pay me anything less than seven figures to transfer away from Notre Dame. This move is odd.

I echo the concerns of lax. I hope he lands on his feet at a reputable school.

This frees up another valuable scholarship though, so that is good.

At the beginning of the season, I thought he was terrible and looked scared with the ball in his hands. Sure, he made the occasional shot, but he played bad defense and also made some really silly fouls. As the season went on, I couldn't believe that Brey kept putting him in. The thing is, he really improved as the season went on and he started to maplacoid decisions with the ball and his shot really improved. He still didn't play very good defense, but his offensive game really started to come around. With some hard work in the off-season, I saw him being a very good player and potential starter. Sad to see him go, but I wish him luck wherever he ends up.

Repeating from early this AM, ex-#NotreDame G Alex Dragicevich told me report of commitment to Boston College is "not true."
