Definitely wasn’t implying that we should take pity on football coaches or any such thing. More implying that head football coaches actually have to work where as our members of congress don’t do much of anything except what their financial backers tell them to do.

Pretty shocking Bama didn’t already have someone lined up for the job. Makes it seem like this happened pretty fast.
Either Lanning just took interest to get a raise to new heights or they got shot down hard.

Personally I'm hoping for Franklin

Never really saw the fit. In my opinion, Dabo or Kiffin makes the most sense.

Dabo
Dabo is from Alabama and an alum. He's also built a program and has won 2 NCs at Clemson. Clemson fans (particularly Tyler) are, for whatever reason, growing impatient with Dabo. In addition, pointing out the elephant in the room, Clemson is also in an extremely uncomfortable situation with its ACC affiliation. The SEC doesn't want them. The Big Ten doesn't want them. They're...stuck. The knock on Dabo is his attitude towards NIL and the Portal. I think his outlook can easily be changed by sitting in with a few boosters. Frankly, Alabama football is different from the rest of the country....they'll cross any boundaries and clear any hurdles to win. Obviously, the NIL / Portal aspect would be made a condition to his employment.

Kiffin
Despite being an in-conference move, make no mistake, moving on from Ole Miss to Alabama isn't a lateral move. He's also bold and brazen enough to assume the job after Saban. He's an offensive mastermind and has proven to be a tremendous coach. Alabama has certain advantage ($$$) that Ole Miss simply doesn't have. We all know Kiffin isn't loyal to a program either (see Tennessee to USC and wasn't Kiffin previously in discussions with Auburn as well).
Well summarized and on target. What do you think of Bill O'Brien (or does he get Patriots job?) and/or Steve Sarkisian (is too invested in TX at this point)?

Deboer is now the betting favorite, with better than 50/50 implied odds

Smart on his part. You don't want to be the guy who replaces Saban. You want to be the guy who replaces the guy who replaced Saban.
I think you need to be further down the list. Their still bitching at UCLA since Wooden retired. Bartow was 52-9, made the NCAA CG and still got ran out of town. Same at IU. They haven't been happy since Knight left and Mike Davis took them to the NCAA CG in 2002. Nick has casted a very large and permanent shadow.

We've been here a looonnng time... Waiting for a g-damn mf-ing 'nother Nattie!!

My son is jealous because I've been able to witness 9 championships in my life while he finally got to witness one last year.(Rangers)

I told him by 18 I had only seen 4. That didn't help.

He has self-imposed restrictions that are not a cultural fit w/Bama
I think it's painfully obvious this is the case and it's not like he's still rolling on people with his self restrictions since this new era of college football began.

12 of his 43 losses have come in the last four years. After Watson and Lawrence, NIL and The Portal came along, then it fell off a bit.

And may I add... Although I believe MFMF would do great anywhere he went, I deem he's Irish for the near future... unless the Brinks truck backs up and 'Momma' says, "Take it".

I really really like Freeman, but after this Bama run and the position of the program....No way they'd need to settle for him. It sounds rough even to type it out, but it's the truth.
