It wasn't a terribly effective gameplan. OSU didn't have to punt until the 4th, and they made an obscene number of 3rd downs. I know we were banged up and facing a powerhouse offense, but we just could not get any stops until very late.

The #1 team in the country got boat raced by that team

We fought like hell

Are you this big of a bitch in real life? When one thing goes wrong, do you point out how everything is a failure to anyone who'll listen? Golden gave us some excellent moments and he's earned the right to define his next career move.
I was referring to Mickens. If he isn't promoted to DC after Golden leaves, then Mickens probably leaves. (Golden is leaving.)

This is where the missing defensive players really showed. We needed to get pressure without blitzing, but couldn't.

Don't you just love those that aren't on here very often, then pop in to tell everyone how bad things were/are when we lose?

We'll never know but if we'd have played them with the same scheme and aggression we had the rest of the year, would the result have been different? There where multiple plays in which the defense looked confused or slightly out of position, including leaving #4 wide open for a TD, JT not setting the edge on the huge run play, nobody accounting for Howard or 4 people accounting for him. I think a lot of this is asking players to do things they aren't comfortable with, so instead of playing fast downhill football, they are thinking too much. Do what brought you here, that's my 2 cents.

My sunshine oversimplification: Give me our missing defensive linemen and we stop the run statistically, and we get pressure on the QB. The whole linebacking crew and the All-American D-Backfield shines, Coach Al works his pressure magic, and ... I think we win. Without the D-Line operating at KNOWN previous effectiveness (when we were way healthier), we cannot effectively stop either run or pass in the first half, the RB runs anywhere he wants and knocks the crap out of our D-Back tacklers (who hang tough), and the QB completes EVERY pass.

Fault?: NOT Golden, not the available players, especially not the D-backfield. We didn't have enough defensive bigguns to keep throwing in there this year. ... a shame we couldn't see our true first defensive team play OSU. Maybe OSU could adjust and handle it, but ....

If they don’t go with Mickens for DC, I’m giving Lou Anarumo a call. Keep the philosophy that got us here. Sucked tonight but is what it is

I hope they cast a very wide net in trying to replace him. It's how they found him in the first place. He wasn't on anyone's radar by any stretch when Freeman was hired.

That loss had Bengals stink all over it

It did, didn't it!

Bengals offense is elite, but has a habit of letting uncharacteristic issues pop up at bad times in big games. Gotta be perfect to cover for that defense, and that's a tall task.

Kind of same story for ND last night, just opposite sides of the ball. Defense has been so good all year, settling in and giving the offense time to do what they need to do to grind it out in so many games... but just didn't have enough juice last night.

I wonder if Golden's cover 0 was a bit of a gamblers fallacy ..."they got me the past two times...I'm getting it this time".

Cincy media has known for some time.

Why does an interview mean "he gone" when others have said it would be a clear pay decrease? I assume we aren't asking him to recruit much. Seems like less pay, less prestige, and a harder job for a middling NFL team.

I think you are going to see college coaches turn over faster than ever before. When adults have to kiss kids asses over money, I suspect that will wear thin on everyone quick.

He probably wants to be an NFL HC.
And that seems like a real longshot to me. They're going more and more to younger, offensive guys. If the Bengals Defense becomes great under Golden he's got a shot, but if they are just league average he'll never get a sniff at NFL HC.

Back end FBS is the most likely path for him as a HC. And there's another pay cut.
I type this shit knowing I'm screaming in the dark, he's going to do what he's going to do. It just seems dumb to me.

The II post game podcast said that his best path to being a HC is NFL instead of college. If that's his goal, good for him and go chase it
