Anything is possible, but it seems for Golden that unless it's a head coach gig in college or NFL coordinator job, anything else is a lateral move.

Golden is also a sideline guy.
I know it’s his alma mater but just can’t see Golden going to Penn State. Unless they offered him the head coach job maybe.

This morning Lavar Arrignton is going off on Allen for going to Clemson. Said it would be stupid to move to be closer to family and it wasn't even a lateral move. Then Quinn came back with, "Maybe he wasn't happy working for Franklin". Brady knew.

PSU is not a destination school but I question Allen's judgement on this move. PSU is apparently playing the NIL game, I'm not sure what Clemson is doing and it sure seems like they've continued to recede. I know they still get some players but their roster is not built for a title run (not saying PSU is).

It really seems like there were other factors at play, ie - head coaches, location, family, etc.

PSU and Clemson live on the same talent level (as does ND)

Allen is far more Dabo’s vibe than Franklin’s demeanor

He worked with Matt Luke at Ole Miss

All that makes it rather easy why he chose Clemson. I would say the only surprising thing is that it was after only a year, which indicates he definitely wanted out enough to burn a bridge

It had to be his working relationship with Franklin as Quinn hinted to. Being closer to family seems like the "nice" excuse to use as opposed to making a statement that looks like you're throwing Franklin under the bus.

Just take the trophy and hang a banner. The whole idea of statues gives me the ick.

As for Golden, it would certainly seem like he's got a great situation. Again, after Monday, what will be will be. It's all about Monday. After that, if everyone wants to scatter, that's their business. Feels like there is a good thing going here, but whatever. I'm way more interested in the game.

True, but those are players and no one knows who they are. Everyone knows who they are holding up.

Most Cincy media expect it will be Golden because of his pre-existing relationship with Taylor.

Cincy desperately needs help on the edge, at safety, kind of at corner, and depth across the board.

Getting a healthy Logan Wilson back next year is actually a big key, as well… but hopefully Al has gotten some promises from Zac Taylor that the Bengals will be drafting an Edge rusher in round one and investing at all levels in free agency.

Damn. Losing Al would be a painful loss but I think we'd all wish him well.
