Guys,
First off, do NOT panic. There has been some issues with Aaron at ND for a while. None of it stems from Kelly, his staff or the players. It stems from Aaron not feeling like he fit. Did anyone notice how Aaron was never tweeting anything much about his doing's at ND?? The other guys were talking up the ND B-Ball teams and other ND stuff. He just did not enjoy the place.

Second, look at the guys who have transferred into ND. They all appear to like ND. Further, there are 80 other guys liking ND alot.

Finally, I watched Kelly's presser about Lynch and he really seemed to handle things very well. He was classy and did not do any bashing. For all those who bash on Kelly, he is a well spoken guy.

Lastly, this is a decision that Aaron my really regret. At ND he was getting to play with a fantastic defense and was treated rockstar by the fans. Now, he will go somewhere where he might be the only great D-lineman. This will mean he could be double and triple teamed every game. I wish him well and sorry to see him go. But ND will move on.

And this is exactly why we will probably never be a top 10 team again.

TAKE that thought and bury it bro..... We are ND....
We will be a top 10 team this yr or next i bet anything on it... I have faith in our team players, coaches etc...

I said the same thing about our Mens Basketball team and we did way better than most thought... When in Doubt listen to HOLTZ.....

Kelly has a background in politics. I would hope he is well-spoken.

Dude, take a breather.

Oh my apologies, I thought this was for the Notre Dame fan club. I must be on a USC sight, because I would think any ND fan would be upset about this.

Now where is that website that discusses Notre Dame football.

Someone make some more posts, so we can get off page 19 of 19

Is all hope lost? Has he, like, signed all the necessary paperwork? This was a kid who committed-decommitted-recommitted after all.

Nothing is over until we decide it is!

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough... The tough get goin'!

Who's with me? Let's go!

What the **** happened to the ND I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest year of our lives, but you're gonna let it be the worst.

If this is really about a girl I'd sure like to see a picture of her, that she's worth all of this, what was her name again...... Deliliah

As a parent, the one I really feel sorry for is Alice. She kinda put up everything to give her son a chance, and this is how it ends.

Yea he didn't bash the kid, because he shouldn't. He's an adult and Lynch is an adolescent. I don't want Les Miles running our program, but in addition to being all those other things that an ND coach has to be, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1A is still winning football games. I don't know how we are going to do that with this attrition. We know we won't win with mediocre players like he did at Cincinnati, so I fail to see how losing quality players at two positions of need keeps us on schedule. Next man in is a nice concept, and one fans will drool over, but the only way that truly works is if the players behind have the talent. No one in those two position groups had the talent of Aaron and Tee. And Tee was a true freshmen corner. Opposite BJax we are still searching for someone to play beside our converted corner. Recruiting is one part, keeping them here is another. If our staff can't do both, we're ****ed.

This guy isn't coachable. I hope he graduates from USF because he won't make it in the pros. Hopefully he doesn't get convicted of a felony either...

This happening in and of itself is not the issue. The issue is the multiple players we have lost recently. Do you realize we have lost more 4 and 5 star kids in the last little while than most teams recruit in a year.

Regardless of whether this was a Lynch deal or its a systemic issue, the outside world who is not privvy to the guts of the situation sees it as a systemic issue. Coaches will use this on kids "Why do you want to go a program that has constant turnover?".

And you are fooling yourself if you think there is a next man in thats as good as Lynch was. Watch the highlight tape, the guy was a Beast, AS A FRESHMAN.

I wish him and his mother all the best except if he ever plays against Notre Dame.

Just one warning:
Quitting is a slippery slope.

Whoa slow down sweetie. First off, any ND worth their salt knows we ain't Michigan, our team functions as ONE unit not just ONE player. We also know that Brian Kelly is a good coach, and he's got a plan, our D line is awesome, the O line improving. Aaron wanted to follow his heart rather than his head, and any REAL fan knows that someone who doesn't want to be at ND isn't going to play with heart. So all we can really do is wish him the best and go back to the drawing board. For Easter's sake, Blue and Gold week hasn't even begun! But seriously, yall, relax. We got this. WE ARE ND

I appreciate your unflinching optimism, but that has gotten us nowhere in twenty years. We lost elite recruits/players at a staggering amount. That is nothing to gloss over. Panic is not needed, but some serious reflection is. I'm not attacking you or replying with malice, just saying.

Naysayers and negative Nancy's are funny. Seriously, the doom and gloom is out of control. Kid had attitude problems, its all over the web and this board. Sorry, I don't want that in my locker room.

Tee: Couldn't hack the academics.

Deontay: Knew he couldn't handle the academics, wanted the easy route.

Lynch: Thought himself bigger then the program with his attitude.

Amir/Prestwood wanted in, don't forget.

Prestwood is a point, but Amir's family moved out there, hence his enrollment at ND.

It's not doom and gloom, it's reality. We have lost too many quality players in the recruiting process and to transfers. We like to say next man in, but we all know that isn't true. It placates the fans but find me people as talented as Tee and Lynch to take their spots on the team...they aren't on the team. I'm not saying all is lost, but BK needs to deliver on the wins this year. Two mediocre seasons with good recruiting classes and transfer attrition is not good enough. We've been doing this for twenty years except other coaches have had better records and recruiting classes. I'm at the point where I want some evidence that we are going in the right direction. I'm sick of blind loyalty and endless optimism. We aren't going to win on strawberries and giggles.

Mgriff, do you live in South Bend? I work here so basically I live here...lol, and the people are RUTHLESS. They hate ND. They trash them every chance they get, and treat them like crap, then you get on here and listen to more "I hate being a ND fan, we suck for 20 yrs", I know you weren't being hateful in your response, and I'm not trying to either, but if the athletes were treated better by their community and the "fans" they might stop leaving.

So false on so many levels. Previous coaches put all of their eggs in one basket with a recruit. Kelly has the experience (AND THE WINNING PERCENTAGE) and knows better. Believe it or not, the DL is still pretty stacked without Lynch. It simply went from tremendous to very good.

Not saying you are one, but all the dumb motherf*ckers in the media use opportunities like this to come out and say "see, Notre Dame just can't get the stars that they used to." Hell Colin Cowherd said Notre Dame "rarely" gets a player of this magnitude. That's pureeeee bullshit. Plenty of five star and four star guys have come to Notre Dame. There isn't a problem with recruiting. There isn't a "oh the south just draws more kids" either. Home is home is home. He's from Florida, Florida is his home. He pussed out and went home. It's not that hard to figure out.

Not from me I agree with you a TRUE IRISH FAN.. I'm so happy with ND RIGHT NOW AND FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS..

We are so rich in CFB can't ever loose 11 NC and all the History...

Not to many teams will EVER HAVE WHAT WE EARNED... Some teams have 1 NC and have a more positive look...

WE WERE TOO GOOD...

Of course Kelly has the experience, that's why I was excited about the hire. Let's be honest though, our teams should have won more games in those two years. We really haven't had a great win either. (Utah and USC with a poor backup don't count in my opinion. We are ND) We are still where we were when Kelly arrived, hovering around mediocrity.

If we don't get and keep players like Lynch, Tee, Darby, et al then we shouldn't expect to be improving. Our DLine is still good, I'll grant that, but you don't replace a Lynch. He's a physical freak and an incredible football player. Every time we lose someone like that it hurts. We can get the recruits, we always have been able to, but we need elite players and that's what Lynch was. Very good is Top 25, Tremendous is national championship caliber, and I was under the impression that's what we were going for.

It's not just Aaron Lynch, he's simply the culmination of all the recruits and transfers we've had. I understand it happens, but this seems to be a recurring pattern. I know BK can't make everyone love ND and want to stay, but I feel like this could be a problem. I don't know if he could have done things differently but at the end of the day he is supposed to sell the school and keep his recruits, and that has now become an issue in my estimation. He's doing everything right but he still hasn't delivered the wins, and he is now under the gun this season for my loyalty. I try to be very objective, and this is BK's crunch time, because I'm unhappy with the way things are going. I realize everyone may not share my views, but to think that the turnaround of the program is progressing as planned is a stretch.

I would love to know how I'm wrong on so many levels. You said it, and then talked about win percentage, which isn't outstanding since he's been at ND. Many coaches have done well before they got to ND. Our DLine is good, yes, that can't be argued, but how much better would it have been with Lynch? The loss of Lynch isn't something you can marginalize, hard as you may try. It's going to hurt losing someone of his caliber. All is not lost though, if BK can still get us ten wins this season then I'll be satisfied. If not, then maybe it's time to start thinking about a replacement.
