So many great players over the years an honorable mentions group would have been nice.

He played catch with some guy named Steve Young. Both were AAs at BYU.

Hudson set the NCAA TE career yardage record.

He was 1st rounder but went USFL. Later had one season in the NFL.

Much like Macafee he didn't do much post college (football wise)

Then you never saw Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders, or Herschel Walker....

He's not on the list because those guys were all better than him.

That is a very good point, only three to pick...and wow. It won't get too much better than that. To be fair he may not have seen these players in college (I don't know his age)...I didn't see them play until NFL.

Pretty cool to see Rocket on the list. He's pretty much my first memory of ND football.

I was born in the 80's, so you're correct I never saw any of them play. There are six RB's on the list:

1st Team
RB Archie Griffin, Ohio State
RB Herschel Walker, Georgia

2nd Team
Tony Dorsett, Pittsburgh
Barry Sanders, Oklahoma State

3rd Team
Doak Walker, SMU
Bo Jackson, Auburn

If you want to tell me Bush isn't as good as the above stated players that's fine by me. I'm just saying he's the best player I've ever seen.

He's the most unstoppable college football player I've ever seen. His off the field issues are the only reason he's not on this list.

How can you say that when Vince Young played the best game in the history of football against him in the Rose Bowl?

I know he won 2 Heisman's, but Archie Griffin seems like a reach for 1st team RB. I'd probably take him out altogether, move Barry or Dorsett onto the 1st team, and then fill the remaining spot with Ricky Williams or Ron Dayne.

No Cam Newton? I know he only played one season but he was an absolute force.

2,854 yards passing. 66.1%. 30 TDs and 7 INTs.
1,473 yards rushing. 20 TDs.

IMO man. :)

For what's it worth Cam Newton or Tebow are the best QB's for me. Not Young. Though Young was a straight baller in 06.

Off the top of my head...

Ken Macafee.

Doug Atkins. Voted the SEC player of the quarter century (1950-1975) as a DE. His highlight film might be the most impressive of all time. He'd be the biggest freak of nature to this day in the NFL. The man was 6-8, 290 and won the SEC high jump championship. FREAK.

...and Butkus isn't 2nd team on any list, ever. Chuck Norris checks under his bed for Butkus before he goes to sleep.

I am kind of surprised that Michael Crabtree didn't make it. Yes he played for Texas Tech but his stats were crazy.

It seems like some players got on team because of their pro career.

I think Barry is a lock for 1st team. He rushed for 37 TDs in 1988. That's video game stuff.

There are going to be all kinds of outstanding players that don't make the cut. There are only so many places to go around. Keith Byars was an absolute MONSTER for The Ohio State University; Alan Page was just as good a DLineman at ND; Ray Lewis was an animal at Miami........... They have been playing college football for so long that there are just too many outstanding players to choose from.
