Glad they got the W. Totally expected this to be a 50 something to 20 game...

here is to an offense in '14 that starts fast, and finishes well in the red zone, to something special on special teams, and a defense that can compete at all positions...I see the leaders to be on both sides of the ball. with some work '14 could be very special.

At 8-4 for the season we played a team we could handle and our personel losses before and thru the year due to suspension and injury didn't hurt us. Had we been 9-3 during the season I'm not sure we would've beat whatever team we were playing.

Did anyone notice a difference between Kelly's play calling and Martin's? I didn't.

Not the game that any of us really expected to see played today. However still a couple good seasons.

Ugly, frustrating game for me. Sure, glad we won, but why should we not win vs RU? Thought I was rewatching the Pitt game. Glad season is done, we have lots of work to do, starting with securing a good recruiting class, shoring up the D, and having an emphasis placed on special team play, where we are woeful.

hey I know I'm not one that needs to talk about being positive and yes our season couldve been better but we just won a bowl game had a 9 win season that included wins over sparty, the condoms, and a pretty good ASU team. We kept one of our biggest rivals out of the National Title game, we beat our biggest rival at our house for the first time in years, and now we just won a bowl which BCS or not Im young enough still to remember where bowl season meant us losing more often than not I went through every grad up until my Sophomore year of college without us seeing us raise a trophy over our heads and we are looking at this in a semi-negative manner. I know im the debbie downer of the boards but im elated right now.

Not really, but I wouldn't have expected night and day changes. This offense is what it is. It's not like we're going to run a traditional Spread offense with Tommy under center. We did do a screen today though, didn't we?

I don't think Palmer is bad - I despise Pollack though. I'm glad he highlighted Martin's excellent play. Usually he goes unnoticed throughout the game because he's quietly shutting down whichever star player he's up against. It's about time he got recognition as probably the best tackle in the country.

I don't think there's any point critiquing the offense considering they were playing with essentially the exact opposite type of QB needed for this type of offense. That being said, I hold Kelly 100% accountable for using Tommy as if Golson was still playing. The way we played does not play to his strengths at all. I noted this before, but why the hell is the read-option play in the playbook with Rees as QB? Nobody thinks he's going to run, which means there's more time for the defense to get to the RB. Also, every single damn time the WR motioned into the backfield, it was a handoff to the WR - you don't want to switch that up at all? It would be pretty easy to hand it off to the RB the other way or a play-action.

Exactly. Why are we throwing the ball 47 times with Tommy? Should have established the run this season, instead we put the game on our QB's shoulders. It's expected you have to do that a few times each season, but how many 40+ attempts did Tommy have this season?

Yeah, it did seem like a bug was spreading. Heard even Kelly had it.

Best part of the game was seeing the Golson workout and realizing that 2014- are going to be much brighter than '13 ever was. I'll miss the seniors and juniors leaving for the NFL or whatever route their young lives will take them. I thank them for all they've done and hope they live out long successful lives.

The Vegas spread was 14.5 or something similar. We won by 13. Could/should have won by more...

1. Penalties in big spots killed us.
2. Drops in the endzone by DD and TJ turned two TDs into FGs.
3. 500 yards of offense is certainly more than enough.

Not a great game. But 9-4 is a solid season after losing a starting QB, LB, DT, DT, OL, OL, etc.
(Not talking about graduations...talking about injuries and stupid academic crap)

Yeah, but if we're 9-3 after Stanford, not sure we get Rutgers, do we?

Even as it is, 9-4 looks so much better than 8-5.

We were locked into the Pinstripe no matter what. It was BCS or Pinstripe from the get go wasn't it?

Too bad for the guys, glad everyone survived the bug.

ND play calling at times still served to get us behind on the down and distance count.

I would take the money for that game, say thank you very much, find out what kind of surface that was, and never agree to play on it again in cold weather.

Impact injuries (with the ground) were gadauful; and I don't know if I have ever seen more slips and falls in a game. Did it really cost us two touchdowns? Unbelievable!

There were a couple other options. I think Heart of Dallas was on the table, and a couple other bowls, but it definitely was slim pickings.
