‘27 DE OL Layton von Brandt (Auburn Verbal)

Tackle depth chart of:

Black
Lambert
Augustine
Mckeogh
Thom
Olubobola
Von Brandt

That's no friggen joke... I didn't even mention the likes of Prescod or Strebig, who I simply don't think will be able to overcome the talent level of those guys. Nor did I mention Jagusah, Patrick or Halter, all of whom I know / think can play tackle, but will instead play inside because of the embarrassment of riches ND has on the flanks of theit offense.

2027

LT: Will Black (JR)
2. Grayson McKeogh (Soph)
3. Olu Olobubola (FR)

LG: Matty Augustine (JR)
2. Gregory Patrick (SOPH)
3. James Halter (SOPH)

C: Joe Otting (SR)
2. Cam Herron (JR)
3. Richie Flanigan (FR)

RG: Charles Jagusah (SR)
2. Sullivan Garvin (SOPH)
3. Tyler Merrill (SOPH)
4. Ben Nichols (SOPH)

RT: Guerby Lambert (SR)
2. Charlie Thom (JR)
3. Layton Von Brandt (FR)

The potential for that depth chart, or something similar, is insane. And that's with Knapp heading to the NFL Draft, assuming Ashton Craig doesn't get an extra year of eligibility due to injury, Sullivan Absher possibly transfers for opportunity elsewhere, as does Chris Terek, Owen Strebig, Devan Houstan, Styles Prescod and Peter Jones... Any / of whom could emerge and stay.

Garvin is at C now.

They see James Halter as a OT, actually someone who can play all 5 OL positions. LvB is another listed as an OT but very well could as an OG. Hell, 247 has Halter as the #6 OT and LvB as the #13 OT.

I'm not sure many of these iOL prospects that ND has gotten recently are ever going to see meaningful PT with the OT prospects they brought in a that just to good not to play If LvB ends up Irish, wouldn't be surprised if ends up playing inside with his size and demeanor with the monster sized OL that they can put out there.

What the "kids" probably realize about Notre Dame OLine is: whether you play OT like Zach and shift, or play OT and stay like Ronnie, or play OG and stay like Quentin, you go to the NFL and the HOF either way. .... Just come to ND and play, fellas.
Hell ya' ... 3 years of well-coached and ambitious work habit ... off to the NFL.

PSU board on LVB after Hill committed

“LvB was trending heavily to Notre Dame, but as of this morning Notre Dame flipped a UCLA OT, giving them 3 OTs committed, including 2 of the top 7 OT's this cycle (Olubobola and Halter). That's alot of spots and resources devoted to OTs already, and wondering if they still have space for LvB, and whether that opens up an inroad for PSU to get back into his recruitment. Florida was his other top choice (damn you Trautwein!), but they are filling up on top tier O-lineman also. The numbers game may favor PSU here, but we'll see.”

Even with the negotiated number, PSU is probably paying $15+ million in buyouts this year. They also had to pay for half a new roster

Believe Florida was second here, why do they care lol

A poster on PSU’s 247 board asked where Notre Dame is getting all of this money?

Quit being poor. And maybe he doesn’t want to play for a school most known for Jerry Sandusky?
Maybe it isnt all about money. You turds followed up Jimbo Franklin with Matt Campbell...lol. Dumbasses fired a coach mid season and still couldn't get choices 1-10.

I'm on the wrong side of some knowledge here. I saw Matt Campbell as a very good coach at ISU. Hated to see him leave Ames.

He’s okay, but PSU got rid of Franklin because he wasn’t getting them over the hump, and the team was cratering his last year at the helm.

If you’re going to get rid of a guy that was winning 10+ twice every three years, you better be damn sure you upgraded… optically, when PSU whiffed on their first three or four choices, they then “settled” with Campbell. And settling in a coaching search after firing an elite recruiter results in the new hire automatically catching flak.

(Very similar to the dangerous place ND was in when BK decided to take the massive SEC paycheck and “easier” road to his elusive National Championship. It’s hard to replace a guy that elevated the program to having such a high floor. Luckily MFMF has turned out to be a hit.)

I'm of the opinion that Campbell was a big fish in a relatively "medium" pond. Say what you want about Franklin as a gameday coach, but he was an excellent recruiter and could bring in talent that could conceivably compare (although not equal) OSU, Michigan, Oregon, etc. I don't think Campbell can recruit at that level, so he better be a whooooooole helluva lot better on gameday than Franklin was.

In general, Campbell is fine. Not great, not bad, but okay. I think PSU is about to see a whole bunch of "finish 9-3, compete in the Outback Bowl and hope every few years you get a few lucky bounces go your way" type seasons for the foreseeable future (although they do have a relatively easy schedule this year).

Any “good” coach pre NIL needs to be reexamined. Matt Campbell was doing more with less and therefore would trend well in this new era as long as he has the backing of the university and they spend money to get him players. The buyouts that have been mentioned are a good call out because if they can’t get him players they will continue to go 10-2/9-3. Will be interesting how it plays out.
